I'm from the UK, 17 nearly 18 but I don't do anything much other than go college and come home and I haven't really had any extracurriculars that I've been a part of which I really regret now, and my college doesn't have many clubs to join so I'd have to do it outside of college as a club, but I don't know what to choose and I'm worried 😓

Why is it said “as long as you aren’t an international applicant,” what are the major differences? What did you specifically mean?
@mrmxneybags8 ай бұрын
He could have said maybe for the reason that applying internationally is extrmemly competitive. Possibly even more competitive than applying domestically. So, I thin admission officers getting able to see as much of what makes you, you would allow them to see if you are a better fit for their insitution or not. Again, this is my own personal thought and I am not exactly sure if this is 100% confirmed. However, if you are applying internationally I wish you the best of luck!

Does getting into extracurriculars in your late junior year hold any actual relevance for college applications, or am I just late to the game? My activities outside of school include reading, games, and physical fitness, which are all seemingly irrelevant to me.

Same with me. I couldn’t get a head start in extracurriculars because I was online all of freshman year and in my sophomore year I didn’t realize extracurricular activities were that important (and my parents told me grades were all I needed so I didn’t think much of it) but now junior year is almost over and my only weakness is extracurriculars.

In my country we have schools that only focuses on basic stuff. They focus on grades you got. Education is not even good tho. And no opportunity of being head of a sports team., debate club or anything etc. They don't care about sports. No teams, no science fairs. nothing zero. Minds that are drier than deserts.

honestly universities look for a lot of diversity in your activities so i think you should be fine, but make sure that whatever hobbies you are pursuing are things you’ve been doing long term dedicatedly. and you should have at least 3 activities related to the field you’re interested in pursuing, like an internship or a research project.

I know this video is 3 years old but can you give me some words of encouragement or advice for being a student who hasn’t joined any clubs or did anything outstanding in my freshman and sophomore year of high school. I’m a rising junior btw.
@Funtodraw-f9x3 ай бұрын
I have a question, why didn’t you join any clubs? Not being rude. And since I’m younger than you I might not be qualified to say this but here are my tips to help you: Study the Sat if you haven’t already, do dual enrollment/Clep exams if your preferred college accepts them, do summer courses that benefit what your majoring in or for academic benefits, do more rigorous coursework like the Advanced Placement, (that will impress colleges since it’s college level work. Since you have two years left instead of going into a club, create your own passions project and or club, hears an idea but pls don’t steal this: as a 9th grade wanting to finish school in two years, I loved kids, money & art so what better way than to create a curriculum centered around affiliate marketing and showing kids the benefits of how to make money online. Why I showed that to you was because that was a tier 1/2 level extracurriculars that colleges are looking for: they want someone who has leadership qualities, (for example being a leader or treasurer in a club), you can also again create your own passion projects/volunteering ideas that center around your hobbies or your major to show colleges your serious and.. Do the hours, since colleges won’t think you’re taking it seriously if you just do 5 hours a week. Of course not everyone has time, but for higher level ivy leagues colleges love a person with their own character. ❤

@@Funtodraw-f9x Thank you so much for your advice! I can tell you’ll go really far in life. To answer your question: I haven’t joined any clubs because I was never really interested in them. I joined one club and I never found the time to participate in it. Also because of mental health reasons that I don’t want to explain. I take AP courses and I’m involved in a college career readiness program. I’ve been preparing for the SAT since sophomore year too. As for the clubs, I’m thinking of creating my own club as well, but I’m having a hard time thinking of what club I should make. I want to major in business in college but I don’t want go to an Ivy League school. What kind of clubs do you recommend I make that relates to business besides yours?
@Funtodraw-f9x3 ай бұрын
@@noi_drhdr4792 KZbin keeps deleting my comments, not sure why, but let me try again: - Try creating a workshop/mentoring course or curriculum that shows kids how to invest, make money online, (like an Etsy shop or Shopify acc), or a financial literacy curriculum. - Colleges like when you are the leader in said club, so make sure you take initiative, & the students you infer give their story’s to further your claim that you did indeed help these kids, (this could be a great volunteering practice.) - Another way is you could create your own business yourself, then share like 5-10% of your profit to local charity, you could start networking to find more internships or scholarship opportunities. And my favorite are: going into national or just money based competitions that go around your major, (you can search up: business competitions in my area or out of state, & look at what you like to compete in), colleges like that you challenge yourself, and having a medal to your name will make colleges wanna accept you.
