I saw an episode of mayday I think it was and the guy was a passenger in a small plane with only himself and the pilot. The pilot passed out and the guy had never flown a plane before. He knew how to operate the radio and the control tower was able to talk him down and land the plane. The passenger was 77 yeas old! I couldn't believe that one.

I googled Patrick Farley...I don't know what happened. SO sad! The last article that I found published about him from 10 years ago said he had to be institutionalized and now lives in a sparse room with no access to any music what so ever. Heartbreaking.

Helen Lenard www.todaytonightadelaide.com.au/stories/savant The article fails to state WHY his music was taken away from him; it's not like he needs a Steinway or Yamaha grand piano; I'm sure an entry level Casio would have sufficed to maintain his attention and development?

@@starquant my own child autistic with co morbidity diagnoses, I’ve not been spared too much however I invest in my child, and use what tools are available, I don’t buy they’re trapped, it takes longer to reach them but it can be done, god I was deaf as a child due to an accident and I probably reacted worse than my own child in certain situations because I was written off as retarded or to stupid, so I make damned sure any limitations on my kid are truly due to autism or other disabilities and not of my making. My own kid puts clothing in the freezer for some reason, has flooded our flat, has gone off for walks, she has an eating disorder and is grossly overweight which means I now shop day to day so there’s nothing to eat in the house, I change pads and nappies, I’ve had cps called because she hated water and every shower time screamed like she was in a slaughterhouse, I’m not going to compare who has it worse, I’m saying autism has become the scapegoat for lazy parenting and arseholey kids, and yes I’ve been accused by one mother of an autistic kid of lazy parenting. But my kid isn’t violent she isn’t too much of an arsehole and if we aren’t dancing with joy we are at least grateful that we aren’t living in a time of shunning and hiding her away

I can't believe that "back in the day" doctors would tell a mother to put a child "away" because of a disability. How cold is that!?!

Ken Noe There was a time when a deformed baby was born, the doctors would set them aside and let them die. I know this to be true because my mom's best friend was a GP who delivered babies and she told my mom. Mom worked for her, too. This was in the 1950s

Thank goodness for the subtitles as the background noise is so unexeptable !!! I'm lucky I can watch this for s little while as usually i can only listen and the background noise ( music) deems this programs unwatchable.
@E-Kat

Surprise, surprise, the noise isn't present for the whole duration of the program.! Wouldn't that be lovely not to be exposed to this headache inducing background noise? I wish there was an option to just turn this racket off or by default there should be silence. Can someone work on this, please?

You can see the little boy playing the piano stopping after he plays a note sometimes, and actually recording the vibration in his brain.

That background racket, I can't really call a music ruins the program! I know, I can turn it off and read the subtitles but I'm only watching this as I dislike cleaning the kitchen!!😊 I wonder if it's possible in this technologically advanced era to remove background music? This series has a particularly nasty, assaulting sound effects! But we don't need the music to tell the story, since we can synchronise video and audio for already about 120 years, yet we choose to still subject the viewers to this totally unnecessary leftover! I suppose, we should be glad we don't have to read these flash cards which used to appear on the screen during the silent movie era. I wish, there were a button to click on to kill the background noise!!
