Animals Power presents
Helen the Blind Cow
This story demonstrates the value of the word "gratitude".
It is that of Helen, a cow born blind on a dairy farm 19 years ago, saved by her former owners who could no longer care for her.
She was welcomed into "Uncle Neil's House", where she received love and attention.
When Helen arrived at her new home, she was confused and scared.
Being blind and separated from the only environment she had known for almost 20 years, she was worried and felt unsafe.
Her new family was dedicated to making her understand that she was loved and protected, as Rian Feldman, founder and president of "Uncle Neil's Home," told The Dodo.
They spent a lot of time with Helen, talking to her kindly, calling her name, expressing their love, and playing music.
They also adapted her environment to make it easier for her to move since she couldn't see.
All the hard work and affection dedicated to Helen paid off when she began to show love and gratitude to her rescuers.
She hugs, kisses and cuddles everyone around her, showing how much she loves them and how grateful she is for the second chance she was given.
Her transformation from a scared and confused cow to a happy creature was a joy to watch.
Despite her short time at the sanctuary, her rescuers can't imagine life without Helen.
Thank you Helen for the love you gave to everyone
