In this drill of the week we shoot the F.A.S.T. (Fundamentals, Accuracy, & Speed Test) Drill

Range: 7 yards
Target: 3×5 card (head), 8″ plate (body)
Start position: weapon concealed or in duty condition with all holster retention devices active; shooter facing downrange in relaxed stance with arms down at sides
Rounds fired: 6
The shooter loads gun with a total of two rounds. On start signal, the shooter draws and fires two rounds at the head target; performs a slide-lock reload; and fires four rounds at the body target.

Target is formatted 8.5 x 14". Makes it more of a 2x4 and 6" plate when you try to fit it on a standard piece of paper. Looks like a fun drill though.

VERY refreshing to see skilled dudes showing not every shot hits the mark. No doubt Kyle is a highly competent pistol shooter. Having him explain how and why he threw 2 shots is way more impressive than someone showing a perfect target every time. And we all know those dudes that "never miss".....miss. Good on you Kyle for this video. SALUTE! Beware of the instructors that want to show you a pretty target all the time. That is not reality and quite frankly if they do, they are not pushing themselves on the range. I throw rounds EVERY TIME I go to the range. That is how you get better.

I agree.I spent 12 years in an elite CIF Co in SF,and I can say even the best of the best drop shots here and there.I always spent an inordinate amount of time on the range and stayed sharp as a razor,but no one is perfect.I always qualified,but I invariably dropped shots.The truth is the best of the best are like everyone-but we mastered the basics and never had AD’s or ND’s because of the amount of reps we did.
