Shortly after Alan Kalter passed away, I googled him, looking for interviews, Late Show skits, etc., involving him, and I found a 2015 interview with one of the anchors at WCBS-TV. This interview aired a few months before Dave called it quits. Alan was asked how Dave liked some of the verbal abuse he got from Alan, and Alan said Dave asked him to do it! Clearly, Dave is someone who does not take himself too seriously.

@@steve760 I read a similar article where it said they'd rehearse slamming Dave for a skit, and then he'd say the insults flying at him weren't mean enough, so they'd get more creative.

What makes this even funnier for me is on the Lyle the Intern video, he said he never spoke to Dave other than his appearances on the show.. So these may be the only interactions this guy had with Dave haha

ive requested that clip for the fri viewer choice the past few weeks. and he had driven down from philadelphia, and paid $100 to park his car. i enjoy most looking at other audience members and seeing if there is a glimmer or recognition of whats about to happen.

I was once at a work Christmas party when a guy got good & liquored up & tore into the owner/boss in similar fashion... only his tirade lasted a good ten minutes. Said owner/boss was a justly deserving recipient too! It was epic... :)
