😎 thanks for getting to this one David! Some quick notes. That is indeed Rod on vocals. Ron Wood, later of the Rolling Stones, on lead guitar. Ronnie Lane on bass. Kenney Jones, later of The Who, on drums. Ian MacLagan on keys. The tune is a Temptations song that the boys turned into a rocker. This was the last song of the set. And they were all very likely *quite* drunk when they played 😂

Okokok. I'm going to watch the whole thing but... I'm kinda surprised you don't know The Faces formerly The Small Faces. And yes, that's Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood and Kenney Jones who went on to drum for The Who after Keith Moon died. So cool you did this one.

Loved the reaction. Well done on recognizing some of British rock royalty!

Hard to believe you haven't heard of The Faces.

This was the 2nd band Rod Stewart was in with Ron Woods. The were both in the Jeff Beck Group and of course here in the Faces. The Faces also kind of acted as Rod's early solo band as all of these guys played on songs such as Maggie May. You may know the another Faces hit in Stay With Me, which now days is often just called a Rod Stewart song.

Yep, after he and Ron Wood left the Jeff Beck Group, they joined the Faces (also called the Small Faces). Afterwards, Rod went solo and Ron joined the Stones.

Rod Stewart on vocals, Ronnie Wood (now with the Stones) on guitar. The drummer is Kenney Jones who had the incredibly hard job of taking over the drums with the Who after Keith Moon died. Keyboard player Ian McLagan also played some with the Stones. Rod Stewart was a rocker before he did Maggie May. Rod also sang lead on the first two albums of the Jeff Beck Group.

The faces were one of the tightest bands of their time - their bluesy rock was second to no-one. And yes Rod was a hell of a vocalist before he started the crooning.

The song has several very diferent sections with nearly no transitions - could be jarring, but it's all great fun, and I love this song. The vocal hook is even just three words... but stays in my mind

Others have already mentioned that you're right, that's Rod Stewart. In fact, although Faces did play on this song, it was actually on a Rod Stewart studio album. Faces was the band Rod joined after he and Jeff Beck parted ways. The live version is pretty true to the album, but the album version is better and cleaner. Good honest reaction.

Nice guess...Sir Stewart it is! And thus it took two (Rod & Ronnie Wood) to replace the prodigious talent of singer/writer/guitarist Steve Marriott who joined Peter Frampton in forming Humble Pie. May I suggest 30 Days In The Hole (Humble P) or Tin Soldier (Small Faces). You'll love either!

Original recorded by the Temptations and covered by Rare Earth before Rod Stewart with The Faces. Both worth a listen

The Faces were known as the best bar band in the world. Rod and The Faces did play stadiums as Rod was HUGE during this period, he was PROLIFIC!!. From 1969 to 1974 between his solo work and his albums with The Faces they put out over 10 records. So, Ron Wood played bass with Jeff Beck for a couple records in 1968. The Small Faces has Ian McLagen on keys, Ronnie Lane on Bass and Kenny Jones on drums. Steve Marriott was the lead singer and rhythm guitarist. He left the Small Faces, joined up, with a young budding star named Peter Frampton and formed Humble Pie. Ron Wood was recruited by Keith Richards to join The Stones in 1975. He beat a a few great guitar players, probably better than him, but the synergy between Keith and Woody was special. I like Ron Wood better in The Faces personally. More raw and he was the lone guitar player. I hope you dig a little deeper into young Rod the Mod. Try Every Picture Tells a Story, from self titled solo record from this time period. Please play the album cut, not live. You can hear the talent of the band. Rod and the newly formed Faces, with Ron Wood, now on guitar, hooked up with the remaining small Faces and became The Faces. Rod would put out solo records with additional musicians and also record Faces albums. I’m sure you know Stay With Me, and perhaps Ooh La La. Mainly Rod was known for doing amazing covers, like this song, originally done by The Temptations. Ronnie Lane on bass was a brilliant bass player and songwriter. He sang lead on a few Faces songs and put out a wonderful album with Pete Townshend called Rough Mix in 1977. Yes, The 70’s were a great time to enjoy amazing music. This kind of music is basic , but done so well. You don’t want to over think it. It’s pure feel my man. Best enjoyed with a few beers and a blunt. 😉

Dude... That's Rod, I was rolling - splitting my sides. Ronnie Wood too. Figured you would have known that, but that's ok. It's a well known song, at least to creatures my age. I think we had this on 8-track. Yep, I'm older than you. Ha. BTW: Band is "Faces", not "The Faces"

I think its pretty easy to spot Rod and Ronnie ) But if I was D (on live air) - i also might have had some uncertainty. )
