Larry Heard is not just a house DJ, he almost single handily created the modern incarnation of House music. If you listen to "Can You Feel It" it's produced in 1984 and could be a house track you'd hear today in a nightclub. It was also in GTA5. Really cool guy, I'm amazed he's a HL2 character, I didn't know that!

TRUTH. I had no idea he was in HL2. As a deep house fanatic and DJ/producer myself, it's hard to overstate Larry's contributions to the genre. He is literally the progenitor of the darker, jazz-infused dance sounds of today (Fred P, Ron Trent, Chez Damier, Space Ghost, and countless others are clearly influenced by his work)

Fun Fact : During development on a project intended as a potential Half-Life 3, Valve brought back in Frank Sheldon to re-scan his face for the Source 2 engine. The developers were very surprised when Sheldon, obviously familiar with the character his face had been used for, showed up to the photoshoot complete with a suit and tie. This project was ultimately cancelled due to the Source 2 engine's unfinished state, but the scans were re-used for Half-Life: Alyx. The original scans look more like Frank, until they morphed it to make it younger and look like his HL2 Counterpart.

Wait the characters faces are based on real people? So do most valve games actually use real faces? But this is actually really cool to know and I probably wouldn't never known and it's nice to know who these people are and what they're probably doing these days. Update from the documentary, Eli's face model actor was only paid 100 dollars for his role with no credit, yeah it's a bit messed up tbh. They should at least have revealed his name and given him proper credit, no way they just took his photo and didn't even get his name.

I had no idea Larry Heard was the model for male 03. He's one of my favorite house music artists. He released music under the name of Mr Fingers, among several others. "Can You Feel It?" was actually on SF-UR in GTA San Andreas.

At exactly 38 seconds, if you pause the video, there is a video by a KZbinr called "Maniac Hat" which is being displayed. I'm a friend of his, and I'm in one of their videos actually. If you go to his channel, and you look at the 12th most recent video or something, you will find a video called "HES MAKING IT SO FAT!". You will be able to see me in there.

From my understanding, the face model used for Gordon Freeman in Half-Life 2, its episodes, and all promotional artwork for said titles was also based on scans of real people, specifically two Valve employees merged together and edited to resemble the original Half-Life's Gordon.
