I know the bell pulls vills from too far away sometimes but I need a fast way to shoot down a passing scout or defend a small attack. If you click-drag from the farms and alt-click (I'm guessing this is what I'm supposed to do) will they get back to work when I un-garrison? [I'm neither of these players, I'm just learning from scratch after being away from the game for more than a decade away.]

The return to work hot key (F by default) sends all your garrisoned vills back to the task they were doing just like "unringing the bell"

I figured Blue would win, betting on the aggro player is USUALLY safe if the other person is a passive turtle. But I HOPED Red would win and was cheering for him. Respect any LEL who knows the importance of booming. Those wall gaps truly sucked. It made Red have to be so reactive all game.

I've started playing as Incas on this map and love tower rushing with them. Hit and miss though in terms of success. I'm around the 900-1000 ELO range. I favourite Lowlands, and ban Arena, Megarandom and the water map.

I think it hurt red really much to lack blacksmith upgrades. Getting to Cavalier on feudal age armor and attack upgrades is just painful. Getting to a trash war with the blacksmith so poorly done is going to be a big struggle too. Though the macro and production was decent.

100%. I don't get why T90 blamed it all on the holes in the wall. Watching tons of skirmishers with no armor, bodkin arrow and ballistics do all the work was painful.

same with other drop off buildings, i.e. vil with food will drop it off when he finishes building mining camp. It was not always like this, but it has been for a long time now.

Yeah, building any "economic" building makes the villager drop off the resources successfully, even if it's the wrong kind of building for the resource they're carrying. So finishing building a lumber or mining camp, mill, farm, TC, and I think dock makes the villager successfully drop off any resources they're carrying.

He checks their ELO before the game starts and types it into Capture Age before casting starts. Sometimes it's live, sometimes it's a recorded game (usually without watching much of it) but the ELO is from before the game start.... hmm. Now that I've typed that out, I'm not so sure. If it's recorded, the ELO probably updates before he has a chance to cast. Now I'm curious, too. I already wondered how much each game affects their ELO and what the before and after on this particular match was.

Honestly, Red would have won this if he had gone for knights earlier, done his blacksmith upgrades and made a castle earlier. A few Teutonic Knights would have been great against the Eagles. Red was fantastic at booming, but his unit control and his unit composition really let him down. Add to this a few knights raid in blue's economy and Blue was toasted.

teuton scouts are on hussar lvl, they beat light cav - theyre like all teuton units: slow, but armored the same reason why teuton pala beats frank pala 1o1 goes for scouts

Teuton trash war scouts have bloodlines and +2 teuton armor they are tanky, no husbandry makes the slower But the same reason for teuton palas to beat franks goes to their scouts Never underestimate them - i did so too(as a teuton main xD), but they are actually strong SotL made a video about hussars and teuton scout are above lcav - i tech for palas anyway and used scouts more... If i queue up 2v2 and ban black forest, yet enough of my opponents favorite it, when they are the only players i still get matched on black forest. Which is like - every time. Ban doesn't work..

He didnt use it that much I think. Blue used ranged and castles alot earlyier and more I think. He peobably would have got more value from melee upgrades.

I have played.... maybe 20 games and got back into de a while ago after.... over a decade without playing aoe 2. One of the first things I did was ban and favorite maps. Though I may ne more "casual" than new to the game.

I bought AoE:DE during a holiday sale in late November or early December this year. I'm so rusty/bad that I'm still having trouble with moderate AI. These LEL games have been giving me some good tips. I don't play ranked yet, not because I'm so bad, but because I have no confidence that my kids won't interrupt me every few minutes in the middle of a game.
