@@demtingz2692 I didn't. It wasn't funny to me but I see the humor behind it. Everyone has different tastes. The hobbit is known for being among the top books that sold out within like 2 or 3 days of the time it released and wasn't available till the following year. The joke implies Bucky is a mega Tolkein nerd. Also the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings books were written from Tolkeins perspective on PTSD and War. The hobbit was a parallel of a man wanting to live a comfortable life but destiny/life won't allow for it till his part in the all consuming war for middle earth is done. Bucky is the same way. He was a soldier, captured, then rescued by his best friend. Then died, brought back to life, brainwashed, made to be a trained elite killer, and is essentially like Steve in that he needs a war to be in or out war to be happening other wise he has no purpose. He also has been denied a release. He died and wasn't allowed to rest. He was in wakanda and had to go straight back into a war after recovering. Loses his best friend. Is a man displaced in time like Cap was. The joke is be relates to the Hobbit. Buckys journey is like that of the one told in the Hobbit. Also this means Bucky had to have been waiting in line for hours to hopefully get a copy of the hobbit

I kind of thought it was a whole thing that they were never able to properly recreate the super soldier serum. They accidentally created Abomination when they tried to use it on a guy in the Hulk movie, and in the Agent Carter miniseries they brought up how the last vial of Cap's blood was a whole maguffin. The fact that we had a black supersoldier in the 50's and now there are 8 of them running around leads me to wonder how the hell they pulled that off, there HAS to be some kind of downside to this bootleg serum or why wouldn't everyone be using it? I remember in X-Men evolution (the cartoon) when Wolverine was reminiscing about a mission he ran with Captain America back during WW2 he said there was a flaw in the super soldier serum, it caused cell degradation when regular humans used it, and only mutants (like Magneto in that episode) could live with it. I'd want to say that could be what the super soldiers are dealing with, but that black guy must be AT LEAST in his 90's and he doesn't look THAT old, so I am looking forward to finding out what the down side to the serum is.

Just on the bit about Bucky running up on the first truck, for a few seconds I wondered if there was going to be a reaction from the second truck drivers as well, but when you find out the "hostage" was actually another of the super soldiers, it makes a lot more sense. The drivers were probably thinking "Hey, a dude just jumped onto the front truck, should we do something?" "Nah, is in the back, he's gonna be lucky to get out of this alive." And the moment he was thrown onto the back truck and managed to hold on the others did make a move, so I think this is explainable as justified confidence on their part that they didn't NEED to get involved yet.
@broggie1233 жыл бұрын

@HawkEyeTS3 жыл бұрын
@@broggie123 To reply to both of your comments, the truck in the back didn't have the "hostage" which is what set Bucky running after them right away. And as for the disaster onlooker drivers, that may be the most believable thing in the entire episode. If you've ever driven on the highway where there's been an accident, a huge chunk of the delay is from people slowing down around the accident to see what's going on. So I can 100% believe there was a driver, probably camera phone in one hand, hoping to get the next big viral video, closely following a set of trucks with people fighting on top of them.

John Walker has the accolades & skill on paper...but there’s more to being Captain America & Steve Rogers conveyed it. In The First Avenger he was willing to jump on a live grenade & give his life selflessly, whereas John Walker has done it 4 times using a helmet. That says a lot about the two This is the same thing Steve was referring to when he tells Tony Stark “you’re not the guy to make a sacrifice play, to lay down on a wire and let the other guy crawl over you” to which Tony replies “I think I would just cut the wire.”

That makes sense but what is so wrong about a mix of both ideologies? Sacrificing WHILE being smart about it. Regardless of how he did it, Walker still put his life in danger by being a soldier. If he had instead said he ran away from a live grenade (like the other soliders do around Steve) then I would get this point but he didn't run. I think that makes him the best of both worlds imo. A soldier who wants to do right but is smart about his actions. Now the real test would be if there was a live grenade and no helmet. But even then you could argue that staying alive to save more lives is the more heroic thing to do. I could go down that rabbit hole all day but you can see how interesting you ccan take the Walker character instead of the face value stuff.
@anonymousdan72053 жыл бұрын
@@leovanilla6833 Absolutely! Thanks for writing & I think you make a great point too, something that I like + appreciate so far about these Disney+ series is how they get to explore these themes more than a 2hr. movie which at times feels more “black & white” whereas as we’ve seen there’s a definite grey area with things like Bucky’s past and now all these characters trying to live up to a certain pedigree either by choice or appointment and it makes for some interesting TV. I’ll admit I hated this new Cap at the end of last episode (which only means the acting & directing was so good) & was pleasantly surprised when the cold open to this one showed a relatable side of John Walker who is self doubting himself before stepping out of that locker room. Then throughout the episode it had me flip flopping between “this guy clearly means well but I understand how he can come across as off putting” to “I think this guy may become unhinged”, so I too hope they explore this theme of heroism in the next few episodes & don’t just go the cliched route of simply using Walker as a template for what not to be while propping Sam up to be the “true heir” to Captain America if that makes any sense...

21:30 guys I think the reason for this is because the driver of the truck knows what the girl in the truck can actually do, so he keeps moving as he's supposed to according to the plan. And you can understand how focused they are on their mission when you watch the airplane scene, where one of them decides to sacrifice himself for their cause in seconds. So that team gives me the sense of , we going to accomplish what we are for ,no matter the cost.

This show is very meh to me :\. I don't buy the conflict/relationship between bucky and falcon. The plot feels more wishy-washy than I thought it would be. I feel perpetually bored watching this, not much intrigue. I'm also not a fan of the "look at all these super soldiers" thing, it feels kinda generic. I also think I just miss Steve Rogers, he was the glue between these two characters that made it work. Maybe by the end, I'll feel differently, but yeah. 6/10

Respect your opinion but you’re in the minority. I think this is 9 or 10 range. This is quality tv, but I am a little biased because I connect with the themes and captain America is my favorite hero

@@privatebh Yeah, I figured I'd prob be in the minority here lol. I agree it is quality tv though. It's better than most of the crap that's out there (3-4/10 stuff). I think I may be setting my expectations too high. Cap ain't my favorite, but I did really like his character. I don't feel like bucky and falcon fill the gap he left at this point for me. I'm glad a lot of people are enjoying it though :)

I don’t get the conflict part. Bucky and Sam were getting along relatively well until that therapy scene.
