No...not necessarily apples and not in plural form. My learning around this bible story was associated with pictures of apple trees and fruit that looked very much like an apple. The fruit of knowledge, I know, was never defined as an apple. In my mind, however,...because of conditioning...it appears as such and my speech reflects that. I apologize for any confusion and thanks for pointing it out.
