I really enjoyed The Fall Guy. It's an action film that should be seen on a PLF screen.

For horror- Quiet Place will clear other horror films this year but they also started promoting in February. Despicable Me franchise has actually improved box office performance with each installment so DM 4 should get to 1B. Inside Out 2 will do well but how well will be dependent on how good the film is.

When I was a kid, I rarely watched movies starring kids either. Stand By Me, Silver Bullet, and The Neverending Story were the exceptions. I know it might be a sad state of modern cinema that we are seeing these older films come back to the theater and make an impressive showing, but I am here for it. There were a lot of movies I did not get to see on the big screen because I grew up pretty poor, so I am hoping, for example, that The Terminator comes back for its 40th anniversary. I would not mind seeing Office Space or Fight Club return to cinema for their 25th anniversary. Anyway, thank you for the weekend breakdown, James. I always enjoy your content.

Civi war doing pretty good abroad. Considering delays in international numbers it looks like something around a 60/40 split. Nothing but praise for the film where I live.

I always feel a little smarter about the movie business after watching one of these videos from you. But, truth be told, I'm an old guy now and only get to the theater a couple of times a year. Everything else needs to translate to smaller screen. Thanks for this.

Don’t forget the hip hop community (W WestSIDE) is close to their computers, smartphones, tablets for the Drake & Kendrick Lamar Battles of the Beefs ….. no time to be closed off in a theatre room when the next punch is going to be thrown

Another thing is audiences in physical seats acting like they’re at home or at a bar. Talking during the movie, cellphones out, coughing, Crunch a Munch a Bunch, seats like being on a airplane & so on. Im done going to the cinema.

The answer on why the The Fall Guy bombed is simple. There wasn’t a big demand or much hype for this film. We live in an era where the movie stars don’t persuade movie goers to the movies. Movie goers go for concepts, established IPs and characters.

I watched the fall guy show. This movie to me, falls BELOW: roadhouse, extraction, the Ryan Reynolds streaming movie. This wreaks of straight to streaming in my book. I think movie studios should start factoring this in.

Its just cheaper and more convenient to watch movies at home or stare at your phone. There are few films my teenagers want to see in a theater. They tell me Hollywood just doesnt make movies like they used to. Lmao.

I’m curious to see how the new Planet of the Apes movie performs. While I remember enjoying the previous movies well enough in the moment of seeing them, they just haven’t stuck with me at all….I completely forgot that Woody Harrelson was even in the last one. The gap between movies has been too long for me so it is extremely doubtful that I’ll bother with this next one in theaters.

I ask him if he has watched something and he tells me he hasn't turned on the tv in weeks. but I know he dooms scrolls two hours a day at least... because I get the dumb stuff throughout the day Also I think they should have marketed to the Dune audience a lot more because I dies every time Metalstorm played 😂

Having watched Fall Guy - I'm left feeling can Hollywood make a good movie anymore. Given strong source material they still crash and burn in a tedious attempt to reinvent the wheel - this movie seriously misses the point and misses the mark. Terrible fit for the most budget inflight movies and I'm being generous.

I wanted to like The Fall Guy. I really like both Gosling and Blunt. I just thought it was kind of boring. I can't explain it, since there was a lot of stunts and crazy stuff, but I didn't find the movie interesting at all. I chuckled now and then, but the comedy wasn't that great either. I didn't hate it though. But I guess I'm just not a David Leitch fan. I didn't like Bullet Train as much as most people either. Again, didn't hate it, just found myself uninterested. There was hardly anyone in the theater I was in for Fall Guy on Saturday. (An AMC Dolby Theatre) Too bad all around.

Part of me is interested in seeing The Fall Guy but knowing it’s by the director of Bullet Train is holding me back. I thought that movie was extremely forgettable.

I went to the movie theater for the first time in 6 years to see The first Omen..I got there 10mins before start time and I still had to sit through 20 commercials and over 10 previews!!Ridiculous!I'm not going to sit through all that crap to see a movie!I love The Fall guy tv show..so I spent my movie money on the first season!
@nevskislake8 ай бұрын
It is honestly ridiculous. It used to be 4, 5 trailers tops, then time for the show you paid to see. I wish they would go back to that. My husband loves 20-30 minutes of trailers but not me.

To me it felt more like a TV movie than a big-budget film, especially in terms of the script. And unfortunately Emily wasn't a good fit for Ryan(or his character), there should have been someone younger in appearance

@voyager4518 ай бұрын
Maybe it needed a little more sex appeal - like they should have included Ryan shirtless in the marketing and Emily in some more revealing outfits. For Sandra Bullock & Jennifer Aniston action comedies, they always bring sex appeal to their roles in these kinds of flicks, I think it makes a difference tbh.

@@everythingisawesome76 Listen, people have ragged on Jakes performance long enough. Little man was great as Anikin. He was brave, almost bagged Padme while being younger than her. And showed incredible swagger in his action moments. I will never forget Anikin Skywalker flying that Naboo Fighter with the Force carrying him, and R2 by his side. Say what you will. Little Jake was an awesome Anikin, imho.

If you're competing with KZbin -- Instagram -- TikTok then wouldn't it be wise for the industry to say "fuck it, everything we do going forward needs to have personality injected into the stories we are telling, regardless if we offend certain groups" mentality. At this point I don't think Hollywood has anything to lose than to go for broke in original storytelling.
@nevskislake8 ай бұрын
I like that idea in concept, but the sad reality is that movies need investors to even get made. especially big-budget movies, so I guess the motto is, "Let's make this film safe and palatable for most audiences, slap a PG-13 rating on this bitch, and overmarket it."
@KadeemG618 ай бұрын
I enjoyed the Fall Guy. While it wasn’t on par to what the TV series is known for, but it does a great job paying tribute to stuntmen and stuntwomen everywhere who always risked their lives and their bodies to make the ultimate action scene so unique and flair. I give it an 8/10. I know you’re a Star Wars hater these days, James, but I’m glad The Phantom Menace is showing some love and appreciation 25 years after the film came out. Imagine if Jake Lloyd makes a surprise appearance at Star Wars Celebration next year, I think Star Wars haters should make an apology letter to both young Anakin Skywalker and Jar Jar.

Fall Guy was quite too 'safe' and boring. Even my 29-year-old son fell asleep. Bury Reynolds did this stunt man stuff first, being an ex-stunt man himself, along with stuntman director with Cannonball Run and Smokey and the Bandit. Both movie were way more funny and exciting than Fall Guy. I didn't care about the characters, and it lacked chemistry and buddy fun with Gosling and Black Panther co-star.

I think l will go see The Fall Guy mainly because l like Gosling and especially Blunt - but l suspect it will be very much a "popcorn" movie - pretty forgetable and not much to it. I didn't like Phantom Menace when l first saw it - l found it tedious, young Anakin irritating and Darth Maul - who made up so much of the marketing campaign - was grievously underused. Plus it had for me the most annoying sidekick in movie history - Jar Jar Binks (although the rock man - l forget his name - in Thor love and thunder runs him a close second). What l most objected to were his exaggerated features, his "comic" clumsiness and what sounded to me like a stereotyped southern antebellum slave accent - am l the only one to think he us the most racially stereotyped character in the last 50 years hidden behind a supposedly "alien" persona? I strongly objected to the character and largely as a result l actually prefer the first two Star Wars sequels - not the Rise of Skywalker though, that was utter trash.
