If extreme metal music was composed initially for classical instruments, then it would be this. Especially this bit at 04:40, sounds a lot like typical black metal. Nikita Koshkin is truly a genius and a National Treasure!

This is a mind-blowing, breath-taking performance, the ideal interpretation for me of this masterpiece. Mr. Lichtmann´s technique (I had not heard of this fine young musician) is in full service of the music. The guitar sounds wonderful, the acustics great: the colors, the dynamic range, the crystal clarity. The intensity he conveys is wildly passionate, and he´s in total control of everything. He ownes the piece. Koshkin is a major composer who has created an alternative idiom (slavic) for the guitar, very different from the traditional Spanish, Segovian or Latin American traditions. I hope the composer has seen this performance as this surely can be considered just as much a reference of Koshkin as Bream´s interpretation of Britten´s Nocturnal.

Yes. Very short nails (this certainly applies to fingertip technique also), allows a full dynamic range. Unlike medium-to-long length nails, players using flesh attack can get fortissimo without the sonority ever becoming metallic/nasal in character.

Igor Lichtmann = You are right now in the SEAT of ‘Julian Bream’!!! Bravo Maestro. This is PERFECTION, the Music, the Virtuoso, the Sound Engineer, the Camera man and KZbin to bring this set of musical ideas for our HUMANITY to ENJOY. I have been a fanatic listener on the Classical Guitar scene since the ‘mid-70s’, I know all the GRANDMASTERS of Classical Guitar Virtuosity as well as Flamenco Guitarists. Yes the Birds are Falling Off the Sky, as a result of BEING COOKED as INSIDE a MICROWAVE OVEN, from our modern electrical / electronic engineering electromagnetic POWER density of the 5G signals which are microwave frequencies transmitted to our 'iPHONES', cell phones. and causing non-ionizing cellular damage to our internal organs. This music EVOKES ALL THE CHAOS that is HERE TO STAY. A Tribute to NIKOLAI TESLA.

Wow! This is one of the best classical guitar performances I've ever heard, wonderful. The guitar sounds massive, like a pianoforte, is there any acoustic enhancement on the recording (digital reverb, compression etc) or is this the natural sound in the church? Incredible playing regardless.
@robertoalexandre42508 жыл бұрын
Totally agree with you, I imagine that the acustics of the church plus the right way of miking the performance make for the really big sound. Although, it´s a result you probably wouldn´t get in a carpeted living room. So, the recording does capture very well the nuances and dynamics, even though the biggest guitar sound is always pretty small no matter what (if compared to other instruments). I would imagine some enhancement to make the sound clearer as in the acustics of stone churches, the sound loses in clarity what it gains in dynamics and "loudness".
@Soytu198 жыл бұрын
This is a masterpiece played amazingly. The piece really has a very special personality, so familiar to me in a strange way, like happens with almost every kind of music that i end up liking. But apart from that this video has a lot of artificial reverb and echo, a lot. But since the recorder machines can't catch the acoustic reality in it's entirety then it's reasonable to do it. It is surely an amazing performance, but the question to make should be: why not add reverb to this if it could sound as amazingly as this? I would do it. But in the reality there would be no reverb, so it's problematic to get used to it. I'm sure i'll play this piece someday, oh yes, that's for sure. Just a point out of place. Look at his pinky finger of the left hand hahah strange form. Doesn't seem like it's being about to break in one moment or another? hahah. But actually it has a very good form to push two notes at the same time hahah
@robertoalexandre42508 жыл бұрын
Granted! But the performance, notwithstanding, sounds like a recording: this sound is simply, as far as I know, not possible in reality (i.e. if this fine musician were playing live in front of us), or would not be anyway near as smashing as it is in this recording/filming.) As for recordings, the artist is entitled to do whatever he wants and the result is esthetically pleasing (there are many guitar recordings which do so). However, I often prefer a recording that captures as closely as possible the real and natural sound of the guitar in an acustically-ideal environment (certainly a carpeted living room would downsize even the most ressonant guitar), It´s good his pinky didn´t fall off, ha, ha, or he wouldn´t have made this awesome performance! The piece is a bitch, and only a master can pull it off at breakneck speed (the Toccata) with full-rounded tone and dynamics. By all means study and play the piece, it can only make you better.
@Soytu198 жыл бұрын
Sad but true, this wouldn't be possible in reality. But the the guitar sounding in your face is awesome (i mean not literally). It has something special, i don't think the piece would lose much of what you hear here. So far the only guitarists that i know that does not apply any kind of sound effect to the guitar is our friend Viktor Van Niekerk and Segovia (listen him playing Ponce, for instance, raw and pleasant guitar). I think because both were too proud of themselves too let themselves improve their own music with cheating/false techniques hahahah Certainly, Viktor has achieved a very good sound. And it is admirable the sound he does. But i would like to hear more pieces played by him and see if it is possible to keep that sound with other pieces. Because the guitar is such a fucker instrument that may change your sound, not only from one day to another, but also when playing one piece or another. I think you know it ahhah
@igorlichtmann62068 жыл бұрын
Great Guys! Nice vivid conversation right here, over the natural acoustics of a church. :) No additional reverb, or acoustics were added to the recording. It's a we had 4 mikes. 2 in the room, 2 in front of the guitar. The mix allowed us to have a very balanced yet deep and clear picture (as i think). My only goal as a performer and artist is to do justice to the composer and the music as good as possible. The guitar is indeed a very limited instrument... and my answer to that is..... trying not to play in rooms full of carpets on the walls! :D hahah.... cheers guys!
