Honesty is the last thing Hoodbhouy's traits..he has been running down Indian heritage and appreciating Chinese science but he didn't have honesty to say Chinese got knowledge from universities of india at that time.. including their religion, theology....

Dear Dr. Parvez ji, I agree with most of your thoughts and opinions but few corrections would like to make. I am a 68 year old, ex master mariner, running my own very successful business in Mumbai. In my school days, when I was in Agra ( UP ), I had a dream of becoming a scientist but due to certain factors, mainly financial, that could not happen. Firstly I would like to correct you that because of Modi, Hindu nationalism has increased in India. Actually it is reverse. Because of Hindu nationalism Modi is in the driving seat. Second, since Modi has come our scientific progress has accelerated. So when Hindu nationalism rises it is not anti scientific, it is pro scientific. Yes, there are few mad people who advocate that we had all inventions and discoveries in our books. But these people are extremely low in numbers. And obviously much much in percentage than your country. I thoroughly enjoy your talks on various platforms and look forward on the KZbin for every new podcast of yours or with you including on the Blackhole.

05:00 you are right that machines will do the calculations but machines are bad at reasoning. In my experience, that of AI driven cancer drug discovery, we employ man-machine teaming. The results need explanation, imagination and rationalisation and for that you need subject experts to theorize about what you are seeing. Artificial intelligence will, like all past scientific/technological advances will only supercharge our awareness We are very very very far from the end of science. We are closer perhaps to the beginning of science than we are to the end.

Seems like we are moving to singularity but there are some big holes to fill first. These are not things that can be solved with AI. For example take Maxwell's equations. They're simply beautiful and also been successful with so many applications but there are still limitations to it. Maxwell's equations cannot explain steady electromagnetic equilibrium. If there's no steady electromagnetic equilibrium, electron would explode on its own eigen charge.

Bhai , pure science and research desh smaj ke lie toh theek hai but for the individual it’s disastrous. Even in American universities the young PhDs rot in repeated post doctoral experiences with laughable salaries and almost zero personal growth. The academic teaching positions are far and few in between and they too don’t compare to industry compensation. I too used to be a particle physicist but ek post doc ke bad akl aa gyi aur meine computer mein degree kar li… industry mein move hone ke bad kam se kam ek aur cup coffee buy karne se pehle sochna toh nai padta.
