The Fall of the House of Usher | Full Hollywood Classic Movie | Drama Horror
In a decaying castle surrounded by a dank, mirrored lake live the morbidly nervous Roderick Usher and his sickly twin sister, Madeline. Their tale is told and dimly comprehended by the unnamed narrator, a boyhood friend whom Roderick has summoned. When Madeline soon dies-or seems to die-they entomb her body. On a stormy night, "cracking and ripping" sounds and a "shriek" from below convince the panicky Roderick that "We have put her living into the tomb!" The shrouded, emaciated figure of Madeline appears at the door of Roderick's book-strewn study, falls upon him, "and in her violent and now final death-agonies, bore him to the floor a corpse."

I was one of those young children that loved the classic horror movies back then & was lucky enough to have a Nan that would wake me up when the Horror Double bills aired back on bbc2 in the 70s. This is one of the films that put the wind up me because the sight of the very beautiful Myrna's Fahey R. I. P. eyes staring menacingly from that coffin scared me half to death. Fantastic film. Yes, and at that time--early 1960s--he was really big. Everybody wanted more of him. There's a whole bunch of cool movies with him, including The Raven [1963], Masque of the Red Death [1964], and The Last Man on Earth [1965] and many more.

I also owèn the Dining room outfit that belonged to Vincent Price. Plus the Grandfather clock came with the Dining room. Its in excellent condition. Not even 1 scratch. ❤

I love movies like this, I don’t have to watch them but listen to the dialogue. Vincent Price and others are worth listening to and internalizing. I used to listen to all the older Pink Pantheon movies and never realized how much I was missing when I just watched the acting.

I did not know about this one. I saw The Raven in 1963 and The Masque of the Red Death and Last Man on Earth here on Tube, plus a few others back when they came out. Vincent Price was in huge demand at the time, lots of movies with him and filled our beautiful theater every time, including my Dad and me. This one was really classy and really portrayed the emotion of Poe, with a good soundtrack--I really liked the music utilizing human voice.
