Also unless you plan on going off roading all you need if front wheel drive, even for moderate off roading the clearance on a sedan is fine. Though the mini van is king I'll admit. I don't think minivans will ever die off indefinitely. They will always have a niche market. You just can't carry 7 full grown adults and some bags in a 3-row crossover like you can in a minivan. I don't care what anyone says. Your other option is a Chevy Tahoe and those SUVs are just absurdly expensive and impractical to own. If nothing, the minivan will remain a favorite for families with 4 or more kids, people that use them as small practical work vans, livery companies, and car rental companies. It also still has popularity in Canada. For the foreseeable future, I don't see Chrysler, Toyota, or Honda axing the minivan. All the other brands stopped making minivans because they were never as good at making them as these three to begin with.

5 years owning a minivan. Struggled making the purchase at first, but DAMN IT....this thing does it all! 1) 8 hour drive to the beach. Fully loaded with kids, dog, luggage and bikes with plenty of room left....no problem. 2) Moving a friend....washer, dryer and other boxes in one trip. Boom! 3) Run to Home Depot...10 sheets of plywood, couple of 2x4s and other hardware. Yeah...It's got you covered. 4) Towing a small utility trailer filled with yard debris (limbs, leaves and grass clippings). Just another day on the job. 5) Rolling up to the club with onlookers gazing with envy......never gonna happen. Then again, I don't club anymore. Comes down to insecurities in their own self image. Hell, I still fight with that minivan vibe. I've been looking at trucks to replace it. I gave up because the van does everything I need and more than the truck. I don't need towing capacity. I lose interior space and I can't just throw large items in the back with out tie downs on the short beds. Own it with confidence like these guys!! I asked myself what was the disadvantage to owing a minivan? The answer is that my van had a load capacity capable of handling "only" 30 sheets. Oh, and by the way, it was raining.
@brianmoeller35395 жыл бұрын
@@frankhoward7645 Exactly. Have to consider weather when hauling. Do I throw a tarp on or not? I bought some simple airbags for my van ($100). When I know I'm hauling a heavy load or going on vacation with tons of stuff, I add some extra PSI for the rear and it doesn't even squat. Drives much better. If I was going to be towing or hauling extremely heavy items, then I would need a truck, but right now, the van does everything I need.
@Bartonovich525 жыл бұрын
The only thing a truck is better at is if you’re hauling a trailer that’s more than 7,000 pounds, hauling a true 1500 pounds of materials in the box, or really going off road. If you’re just towing a 17 foot boat, or hauling groceries and knick knacks, or driving on dirt roads an minivan is just fine. They drive better, handle better, have more room, come in AWD if you want just like a crossover, way cheaper to insure. They are the most family friendly vehicle available. Everyone I know that passes on a minivan is because of an image thing. And that image is family rig and they don't want to drive a family hauler.
@JVonD885 жыл бұрын
J A it’s just that. They have always looked like a handheld vacuum cleaner to me. I agree that vans are great family cars. I have a family, I’m not ashamed of being a mom or the stigma of driving a van. My oldest will be in his own car before my youngest is out of a booster seat. Plus, I just don’t want one. If I’m gonna be making the payments on a car then I want to love it. I’m gonna be riding in the front. If my kids want the comfort, luxury and space to stretch out and put French fries in the seatbelt holes then they can help pay for it a van. With that said though, I’m willing to have my mind changed if I don’t find a different kind of family hauler that I actually like looking at.

Almost all the vans were available with AWD (the Sienna and Pacifica are today I believe) as well as some with 4WD with low range in some cases. So yeah... I call them minivans. I love station wagons, due to its sheer space, utility, and efficiency. Compared to minivans, station wagons have a lower height, which makes for a more efficient vehicle. However, if I had to switch for a taller vehicle, I would prefer a minivan over a SUV. Minivans are: - Safer; - More practical (with features built-in specifically for your family needs); - Equality comfortable; - More economical (higher gas mileage); - Cheaper to maintain (especially tires); - Cheaper to purchase. Can you image a deal for a car that is more practical for cheaper? I want in on that. However, people go with the flow, disregarding what is really better for them. I find it funny that people find the most strange excuses for buying their SUV. Please, learn how to take advantage of trends, by going on the opposite direction. my grandfather passed away, he had a 2004 Oddysey, NO ONE IN THE FAMILY WANTED IT, so it sat for 7 months and im like whatever ill take it even though im never having kids. to be honest, as embarrassing as it is to drive it, it's by far the most practical vehicle i've owned, i pulled all the seats out but the front 2. my favorite part is that a full sheet of plywood fits in the back perfectly, plus it's out of the weather!

@@Omar-em7rl Agreed Mini vans are perfect for hardware store runs, the only vehicle that comes close is a mid sized SUV like the 4runner

I feel like SUVs aren't cool anymore. It now has that elderly/family vibe. But yeah what do I know, I'm a station wagon kind of guy.

My minivan camper is economical and practical. I've owned 3 since 1993. They evolved from kid haulers to utility vehicles to little RV's. I will always have one.

I like minivans! You can walk from 2nd to 3rd row. So much accessible space! I travel with my entourage in it!

I remember we had a GMC conversion Van in the 90s, it was awesome!! So comfortable and spacey, especially during those long vacation trips. I remember the back seat folded down into a bed

i will absolutely buy a minivan in 2020 mind you! Are you kidding me?!! Minivans are spectacular! i've only driven hatchback cars from the time i started driving which was over twenty-five years ago...my first vehicle was a Ford Escort L Wagon; second, a Ford Aerostar; third, a Chrysler Dodge Grand Caravan --- beautiful vehicle by the way; fourth a Honda Odyssey; and now i'm currently driving my fifth which is another Honda Odyssey and a beauty on the road...So, yes, minivans are still relevant today and they will be tomorrow as well
