One minor nitpick: in the United States, “mainline Christianity” tends to refer to the older denominations which skew more liberal (Episcopalian, United Methodist, ELCA, PCUSA, etc). Mainline churches have nowhere as much emphasis on the End Times as the evangelical/Baptist/Pentecostal/charismatic spectrum of churches that people consider “mainstream”. My experience with mainline churches is that they don’t care (much) about the End Times, and often consider it a distraction from the Christian life
@dayzdnconfuz3d5 ай бұрын
Catholicism also much less emphasis on end times- completely different interpretation of revelations from evangelicals … also DEF don’t use the scofield bible (abomination).
@angeline64775 ай бұрын
As a United Methodist I can attest to that. The most that really gets told about "the end times" is basically "Christ has died, he's risen, he'll come again eventually. In the meantime lets help our community and make this world a better and more loving place"
@Rosarium20075 ай бұрын
Episcopalian and I echo that and what Angelina64 said above.

Raised ECLA. That's all correct. Hell, i dont know a single time anyone in church mentioned revelations, any of the end times prophecies, any of it. We genuinely focused primarily on the "good works" portion of the bible, and on raising money for church members who'd fallen on hard times. I'm agnostic now, but, I have zero bad things to say about my former church. They were what I imagine when I picture positive Christianity, instead of the more influential national embarrassment of the Southern Baptists. Now, is that to say they are without sin as far as the usual suspects go? Institutionally no. The specific pastors I had? Never said a single bad word against any kind of people, and one of them would have been offended by the mere idea of using Christianity as a tool to bludgeon others. A rarity these days, but, I look back on him as a rather positive influence.

Unfortunately, there's so much more intentionally awful things built-in (and early warning signs) than just the warehouse and employee treatments. I won't detail further because it's so large now most consumers don't have alternatives. I'm glad you were able to educate your mother and set the record straight. *Do* continue to use caution on the media supplied and promoted. Things like that happening aren't 'accidental.'

I found the explanation of the Mormon excommunication process so fascinating; I don't have any connections to the LDS church but I grew up in a very strict conservative Protestant denomination and my father was excommunicated after he separated from my mother and left me and my sister (he didn't go no-contact, just moved out and we really only talked on the phone after that). Excommunications were not common, but when they did happen, the congregation was asked to stay after the benediction at the end of the service so the excommunication could be announced from the pulpit. My mom had us go to a different church the morning that announcement was made (although we did go to the evening service that night) and the whole thing was hugely traumatizing to 7-year-old me. I'm still kind of grappling with it in therapy.

Regarding the "Joder" temporary tattoo, i think it would make more sense if it was "Fuck!" like a swear, in the Spanish (like from Spain) use of the word. Since Tim was in the Americas it's a little odd, but the tattoos could have come from a spanish company ig edit: but even then jordan's right. it does look super dumb.

This tall tale has government conspiracy woven in and would love to share with you if that sounds like a fun drinking game. Take a shot every time you spot the narcissistic tendency!

Ah yes the ol' classic "My group kicked me out/shunned me so now I'm going to convert to Catholicism" tactic! Gotta love it! The amount of times my parents would be so happy these people are "converting" and tell me all about it and I'd have to explain that they said this about the last several people that "converted" but ended up doing it as a PR stunt is astonishing. One of these people actually showed up to my church before and I'm still kicking myself for not getting a picture. You can just tell by the way the act and how they express themselves that they don't want to actually be there XD

While Clinton's extracurricular actions in office have undergone some reexamination in recent years, I would like to point out that they most certainly did not "bring him down." I know it was meant as an offhand comment, but due to several factors, President Clinton left office unscathed and more popular than almost any President in modern times at the end of his term. My opinions about the matter personally are nuanced but one key factor was that the people prosecuting him were seen by me and most of the public as unnecessarily partisan and openly hypocritical. The Speaker of the House who led Clinton's impeachment was brought down in the wake, as was his successor, for participating in his own extracurricular activities.

Shiny and dark dark black like tattoos are only that black right after you get them and there would be visible redness around them. Please note. Most, if not all, the women gave depositions; I don't know if they are still public. 1. None of the depositions indicated one child was rescued. 2. Some of the depositions are extremely detailed, too detailed. 3. Commentary if a child was rescued was immaterial to the suit. However, a couple depositions go on and on.
@valolafson60355 ай бұрын
What does ''too detailed'' mean?
@raydunn82625 ай бұрын
I was getting there; I took a break. 1. Some are seven pages or more. I think maybe two to four are long. 2. Some weren't proofread. Some have many run-on sentences. 3. Included are unrelated matters. 4. Some sound vindictive, depositions should contain just the facts. 5. Some state very strong opinions, not appropriate. RFM (Radio Free Mormon) on his channel, Mormon Discussion read all last September and October. RFM, like me, wants the victims to receive justice. How some of the depositions are worded, it could be counterproductive. He's an ex-Mormon and lawyer. As he read the dispositions, he critiqued them. There are at least ten ex-Mormon channels like Fundie Fridays. RFM and five others are as good as Fundie Fridays. However, they address more specific issues, not just individuals. They made it; however, they want to help Mormons and ex-Mormons.

@geekcollage I know this. That's why I noted so much. If FF were exMormons, Ballard would be wishing he was in an alternate universe. I was trying to stress that, there's good influencers on the Mormon side like FF. And if James needs more info, the exM influencers are great resources. I thank who ever is up there or around us. I just want to give thanks. I wrote this that the six exMormon podcasters are as good as FF in their presentations and comprehension.

I've also been getting the vibe that there's going to be a series of films called "The Sound of...." even if they are not otherwise connected besides being based on true stories involving children. I was getting a lot of ads for The Sound of Hope for a while and felt very torn because the plot seems like something I would normally be really interested in, but then I keep going, "Do I want to give these people (Angel Studios) money?" What little I can find from a cursory Google search makes it sound like this one might be a little more accurate, though.

You certainly wouldn't be excommunicated from the Catholic church because you committed even a terrible crime! YOu would be expected to go to hell after death unless you repented, but look at all the people in prison who have become devout. Sinners are not excommunicated for sinning (no matter how egregious the sin, ie child trafficking), because the church is supposed to help sinners.Excommunication is for something like teaching heresy.

So gardy marty was Mormon? Tim said that Garty’s father was an “ecclesiastical leader in his church”. And Tim straight up was silent about Mormonism throughout his films, just called himself a Christian to get a wider audience. He knew it was told he couldn’t talk about his specific faith, because it would turn viewers off. Yet 1) Mormons often don’t consider themselves Christian’s and 2) wasn’t the film supposed to convert or bring watchers to Mormonism?
