Children have no rights here, and everyone seems blissfully unaware of it. When I was little, I once asked a mother if she owned her kid instead of asking if she was her mom. I said this because I believed that what being a parent was, was ownership over a child like a pet. They laughed. I wasn't wrong. Kids truly have no rights. Parents can choose if they do or do not receive a life-saving surgery. They can marry them off. They can keep them trapped in their home even if it's abusive. They can force them into procedures done for looks (like botox) and they can have them do ALL the work around the house for them with no sort of compensation. The list goes on.

I would just like to add that “The Fish” symbol thing was supposed to be done like in tandem with another person. From what I understand back in the day if you met a person traveling you’d draw the first line of the fish. If they finished the fish it would show they were Christian. If they didn’t they weren’t Christian but you didn’t out yourself. Not sure if anyone picked up on this, but the director/lead basically cast himself as Jesus. The movie starts with him basically alone, wanting to spread the word of god. Then he starts gaining close companions that assist him in spreading the word of god. The State gets real mad about it. A close friend betrays him, and sells him out. Then the State kills him, and he becomes a martyr. Short of miracles and rising from the dead that’s pretty much the story, and I’m pretty sure that’s sin number 1406 in this saga. 1 way ticket to super hell

Can someone explain the mental gymnastics it takes to go from, "wear a mask when you go outside and stand 6 ft away from people" to "it's a war on Christianity"? In the states, religious meetings were limited for a while, but they weren't outright banned. Like what, is one of the 10 Commandments "Thou shalt spread the virus"? One thing I find obvious about the movie that I see nobody talk about is how the main character is portraying "himself" as Jesus. The dude grows a following, defies the status quo of a tyrannical rule, gets betrayed by one someone close to him and is in the end executed which is portrayed as a grand victory. Besides a groomer the guy has some delusion of grandeur.

In this movie, for sure. But it is an unfortunate reality in other parts of the world. Especially the Middle East. I have many friends who were Christian, gay or both that had to flee because they were constantly being hate crimed and they needed to flee to save their lives. Persecution is not funny and shouldn’t be taken as a joke. The fact that you wouldn’t say that for other religions also says a lot.

Persecution isn't funny but neither is pretending to be marginalised when you're in a country where the majority of the country is of the same religion as you. In some middle-east countries, yes, there is persecution for those who aren't muslim but the comment wasn't about that.

But this comment was general and that includes Christian’s speaking up against persecution for all the right reasons. Life in North America is not the reality for other parts of the world.
