I love Hanley's bass driving tirelessly through this version of The Mixer.

Respectfully, I think the "acoustic" TV version with Brix, Steve Hanley, Julia Nagle and Funky Si is the best. This is great, though.

That violin, especially in the closing 30 seconds. 90s Fall can get sneered at by the purists but it's honestly my favourite era. See also; Arid Al's Dream

I like the period in the early 90s when Craig Scanlon was the only guitarist. Marc Riley and Brix seem to be more well known now but Scanlon was guitarist for the longest and he had a really good sound

one of the best Fall songs - funnily enough I think the recorded version on Shift-work might be the least good. This has a great drive and energy to it, really goes oomph.

Hm, I like the album version better. This sounds like they all had somewhere to go in a hurry, and the bass is mixed way too loud, the violin and Mark's voice too quiet, all messed up. The sound bloke failed in his job of keeping Mark away from messing with the knobs. Still a lovely song but I wouldn't love it as much if this were the only version I'd heard. I tried playing it at 75% speed, but nah.
