My family moved there in Christmas 1965 and we left late 1968. Dad worked at the Mine and we spent some time at School. Mornings only as it was deemed far too hot in the afternoon. Treats would be to travel out to Mulengushi sailing club and swim in the round swimming pool. Other times the Mine pool was every afternoon. Did 3 holidays at Kareba and visited the Victoria Falls twice. Now the Chinese have taken over. SMILE.

Thank you, that's interesting to read! I know very little as we left when I was 10 weeks old in 1973 ( I was born in Ndola). I'm hoping to go next year for my 50th and have a good look around my 'home country'. My mum's family were there and the Congo from the early 1900s until the 1970s.

Hi. I am producing a documentary about Kabwe and the Broken Hill Mine. I am keen to use this footage. How do I get in touch with you to discuss?

Good morning, Naashon Zalk yes? I am happy for you to use it, no charge (would love to see a finished film though please). I'll go and see my parents and get them to talk it through while it plays and I film them too if that's useful? They might have some related photos as well but I'm not sure. My father worked for Barclays Bank so presumably the branch featured and they did speak about D H Patel's store too. They also lived at Monze, Ndola, Lusaka and maybe Kitwe. Mum was born in Chingola and I think my grandfather worked for the mine there...I'll ask. My email is snapper35@hotmail.com - I will probably see them today, if not I will be seeing them over thr weekend. Feel free to send a list of questions if you like?

Hi, where did you find this footage?
@Codbotherer3 жыл бұрын
This was taken by my grandfather - he spent his life in Northern Rhodesia and the Belgian Congo

@@Codbotherer I was wondering if their is still some more footage of the mine in Kabwe specific?
@Codbotherer2 жыл бұрын
@@kobegoderis9631 hi. All my parents and grandparents footage has been scanned and uploaded so we have nothing else that isn't already online. The only chance there is of any more turning up is if my (marital) two uncles and one aunt still have any cine footage of their own. Two don't think they have any stuff at all, one might but doesn't know where. All are now in South Africa and the earliest I might go there would be Oct/Nov 2022.. if I remember and we can find anything I'll bring it home and scan it but I'd say the chance of anything else from kabwe is minima as I don't think any of the family lived there.
