Here in Malaysia we are blessed with our parallel import rule (some call it Grey import or Recond) that allow us to import cool JDMs that are below 5 years from Japan. This has also partly shaped our car culture here. I have gotten a last generation Mark X about 2 years ago. We have seen some rare pieces like Century, Aristo, Crown, Chaser, Soarer, Silvia, GTO, EVO of various generations, STI, AE86, NSX, EG TypeR. Some of the more popular once like Airtrek, Caldina, Stream, Wish, FJ Cruiser. The only unfriendly things for us are the high import tax, excise duty and AP fee. (AP fees most of time are not that transparent)

No disrespect intended, but I'm pretty sure that this car isn't the one in the Hot Version/Best Motoring videos. No blue dash, no sketchy bolt in half cage, slightly different body kit ect. It's definitely an RE-A demo car, but I don't think it's that one.

Bump it up! you'll only get true display of JDM's indomitable spirit from grass roots level guys and a certain tight-knit cluster of serious tuner/hobbyist who've been at Japan studying during the 90's. (we do have some impressive kyusha, our counterpart of DSM scene based on the lancer platform , Kei-car scene and community based on Nissan's project 901 era products thou.) Reconditioned car importers like these gives off huge red flags when it comes to how authentic their participation in the culture has been. You pay your dues and earn the rep as a collective by building cars and producing results on your local proving grounds, not throwing money around on clout fueled aquisitions and monetize off the ownership off someones blood and sweat. And about the politician-esque doublespeak? don't worry about that, generally all merchants who run their own ventures speaks like this over here.

Picked up a nissan for $4k previous owner dumped like $10,000 in parts and its supposedily tuned on UpRev...... well Im finding out that its not putting out what it should be. I'm really perplexed, might need throttle body re-tuned or i have a leak somewhere in the runners of the two piece intake manifold or in theres a hairline crack along a seem on the plenum. It Stumbles between 3800-4200rpm then it screams till redline

How did they manage to get a recon car that is more than five years old? Providing that the youngest FD was built in 2002, meaning that this car can only be purchased no later than 2007. Great car, but I question the authenticity of this one being the actual touge monster.
