Thank You so much for posting this! I just pre ordered mine. I am an amputee that races with one hand and am excited to get my shifting assigned to the paddles on the back. The size comparison you did was perfect, I tried a formula rim, but found the smaller diameter and grips to be uncomfortable with one hand. Hello Dave, at 7:09 as u can see there is a pin on the original newly designed quick release, and that is missing on the metal quick release. the reason for this pin is to activate Low Torque mode on DD1 and DD2 (it actually pushes a button on the rear of the wheel) since even though it is enforced plastic, it wont survive much against high torque. and the rocker style shifter on this wheel is to also to use push pull shifting since some people use this style, push to downshift and pull to upshift. just wanted to share some info hope you like them. Nice video as always... Cheers.

@@woutlammertink9567 well in order to output the 8nm on the CSL DD you will need to buy another power supply than the one supplied. This is an excellent wheelrim. I have one of the old ones though i've replaced the rocker shifter with magnetic ones by SRM. The magnetic shifters completely transform this wheel. @@unpaidintern5331 I was looking at their kit a while back and it looked like a good option at the time when the rim was discontinued but was still actually pretty pricey and a pretty involved installation process. Now that the version 2 rim is released by Fanatec with its own magnetic shifters you are only looking at about $65 more to buy the complete new v2 wheel over the SRM shifter kit making that kit option no where near as attractive anymore. Was a good thing though when the wheel went out of production.

The little “bump” for shifting the v1 it has is a bit annoying BUT it allows me to rest my fingers on the paddles unlike the v2, so theres that 😬. I use the rotary knobs for the black box! I also think the pit box button and “N” feels extremely unnatural. But its rarely used so it isnt much of a complaint to me at all. Tbh I think fanatec did an amazing job on the V2. They look to have fixed every issue people seem to have had with the V1

Update: I have had this wheel since June and I have some complaints about it. The shifter paddles are awkward. Too short and I'm having to reach for them and with the rough-cut pattern it hurts my fingers over time. Plus they are push-pull rather than independent paddles which I thought I would like but I really don't. One other complaint is the hand grip section is a hard plastic type material and it hurts my hands over time. Overall I just don't think this is a comfortable wheel. Too bad. I love the width of it and the button placement is really good. I find everything quite easily in VR. A pin broke recently so I'm getting it sent off for repair and switched back to my old Formula V1 rim. I like it better in a lot of ways but wish it was as wide as this one.

Sorry Dave I meant the McLaren gt3 v2, if that could save it. But that is nice if they improved the wheel to the extent that you think this is nicer then the F1 v2. I just really didn't like the first McLaren rim at all, the paddles was so bad. And the overall feel was just not good on it and it felt so cheap

NEVER had an issue with my V1. Still use it to this day. Prefer it over my BMW rim almost always. But seeing used prices I may be convinced to part with it if someone is interested 😉

But that intro, though! And I thought the British Sense of Humor was dead. Well-played.

Hi Ben, do you know if this is going to be a limited run like the V1s?? I haven't found any info about that. Might have to get this wheel now if that does end up being the case, even though I'm not quite done with my setup yet!

No limited run. The v1 also never was a limited run.

Sorry, perhaps my wording was not correct. I meant will they only make these for a limited time, similar to how they did the first. That’s why the V1 demands a high price everywhere, they stopped making them altogether. Cheers

@@trentbaker8626 the v1 was discontinued because there were some issues. So when there are jo issues in the v2 I dont see a reason to not sell it for 8 years like the BMW wheel etc.

Ahh okay, that makes a lot more sense. Thank you, I’m pretty new to the sim racing scene, so I appreciate the info!
