This is the amazing biography of the blind hymn writer, Fanny Crosby. As the writer of more than 10,000 hymns, all penned after the age of 40, she is credited with authoring more verse than any human in history. The tragic mistreatment by a charlatan masquerading as a doctor blinded Fanny shortly after birth. Nevertheless, she learned to function as a sighted child except for her inability to read. She was an extraordinary child filled with joy and mischief! At her grandmother's knee, she began to demonstrate an exceptional memory, and memorized several complete books of the Bible, including Ruth and Proverbs. She left home at age 15 to begin her formal education. One of the most notable pupils of the New York Institute for Special Education, Fanny was also the first woman to address the US Congress. Fulfilling the roles of wife, mother, friend, teacher, nurse to the sick during the cholera epidemic, humanitarian to the poor and disenfranchised, and friend of presidents - Fanny Crosby was an exceptional woman by any standard. And her legacy lives on through the thousands of hymns that are still sung today.

It's pretty incredible how all the most powerful hymns are from people who have suffered greatly. One of my favorite hymns is "It is well with my soul" the story behind that one is incredible. Modern society want's us to blame and point fingers for our hardships. Jesus wants us to overcome them. God bless you all. We must all work harder in evangalizing. What an inspiration she was! I was talking to my daughter about our concern that there are churches that do not use hymns but only modern Christian music. There are some really amazing Christian songs like “I can only imagine”. But to not make sure, like my church does, to use both would be to rob their people. Her hymns were so deep and Scripture centered. I believe a church that does not include both is unintentionally robbing the people who attend.

I was able to see a movie about Fanny Crosby at a baptist church in december 31st. The church was bringing in the New Year of 1985. It was a good movie. Hymns,she had written, are my favorites among other favorites.

I believe her grandmother reading the Scriptures had done a ton in her deep theological roots that springs out later in her life through writing lyrics. That first verse of blessed assurance sung in this video just brought me to tears. I just realised how sound was her theology. Cannot say enough how much I enjoyed watching the spiritually inspiring story of the life of Fanny Crosby. Thank you to those who wrote and produced it. Through out the forty plus years of my walk of faith I have been blessed to sing the words of her hymns. And now to know more of her own life of faith in Jesus Christ, her heartfelt words take on an even sweeter joy and deeper meaning than before. I once was blind before I had catarats surgery, While they were doing the surgery on the first eye I woke up during the surgery I could see, My daughter and I would fight over to leave lights on or off, I decided I would just shut my eyes while she watch movies. People seem to think that being blind everthing is black, Its not at least for me I see could white, It is very nice to see again. One of my other daughter was born blind in one eye, I pretty sure it was my fault, because I was order to have x-rays when I was barely pregnant with her. They had me cover with apron when they did the x-ray.

Fanny Crosby is one of those very fortunate beings who understood the meaning of her salvation and the comfort and hope beyond her predicament. As the apostle Paul said, " Faith without works is dead. " And it is reflected in her song writing and continues to encourage and inspire believers throughout history. She along with many others lived and breathed the word of God in their hymn writing using the very word of God. It can heal the broken spirit, and truly mend the repetitive heart. The Bible reveals the same thing, the psalms, Moses, David and Solomon to name a few. If God is your goal, like her it shows and we are all the more blessed.

I don't mean to be critical, but I could hardly enjoy the story for the commercials! However, Being already familiar with her story and many, many of her very inspirational and upbeat songs, I still appreciated the reminder. My favorite Fanny Crosby song is "I shall See Him Face to Face" Thank you for sharing her story.

Odd, I didn't have any commercials at all, but yes, you can go to the end and replay and that usually fixes it. Jesus is coming very, very soon. We all will get to see Him face to face! What a wonderful and inspirational woman. Just to have a small measure of her faith and bravery. Safe in the arms of Jesus is the song that I think of, when I think of our dear little baby boy. Who went on to glory on the 18th of September 2006. Blessed is the Lord. Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK.

The words to Blessed Assurance were said to be written right after her conversion, "born of His Spirit, washed in His Blood"..."praising my Savior, all the day long". She was redeemed through Christ's death in her place. She did not "turn her life over to God" ,or whatever description was given her.

Always loved Fanny Crosby hymns from GOD ALMIGHTY. Beautiful For by grace we are saved thru the death and resurrection of out LORD JESUS CHRIST. GOD demonstrated HIS own love towards us in that while we were still sinners, CHRIST died for us. Romans 5:8
