Your delivery brings depth without yawns and humor without cheese. I’ve always loved your mix of sincerity and goofiness and it fits here perfectly. Well done and best of luck with this series. ❤️🍀❤️

I love so many design styles . It’s like Great-grandmas home. My son has this sort of vibe going on . All the decor is bought at vintage shops and flea markets.

I will never be sick of Cottage style. That’s my home, my grandparents and my home growing up. It’s comfy, welcoming and feels like a warm hug. In a rather large family our home was not the biggest but everyone always seemed to want to gather here for holidays etc. I enjoyed cooking and canning and entertaining but I always wondered why we didn’t go to one of the bigger homes. Well now that I’m older I know.

I really appreciate your presentation, great job!!! Cottage core is not new. Country Living magazine(1978), Country Home magazine(1984), Cottage Life(1988), Victoria magazine which is Granny core and cottage core style, (1987-2003), just to name a few. And of course, all of those magazines showed us what country and cottage living has always been like. I for one love the cottage style, "mediumist",peaceful, nostalgic, and oh so cozy. It's the kind of home and style that feels like a hug every time you come through the front door, or in the country, the back door, lol. Thanks Ariel, that was wonderful. 🤗

Ariel, your red gingham was the perfect choice for the essence of cottage. Cottage core is similar to shabby chic, and country in that it depicts old fashioned simple, and hand me downs with sentimentality.
@Karina-jm2oe2 жыл бұрын
Looks at Ariel! Went from books, books, book, to homemaker and decorator! Great video, makes me feel better about liking this style because sometimes it can feel like it is mostly old junk, but I see now that it's more sentimental and emphasis on slowing down... I like that.

Two Ariels in one day! I have always been cottage core. My first house was a Victorian fixer upper and I furnished it with vintage finds from garage sales out of necessities. I grew food and canned it, sewed clothing and quilts and made things for my home. When I got older and had plenty of money I didn't change. Now that I am retired I moved to a stone cottage and have plenty of time to embrace my cottage core. The only thing I don't like is cottage core clothes, I prefer to dress like the 70's hippie I am.

It’s not a new idea, just a new branding. In the 70’s, there were lots of homes of that style. It was mostly older people then. I knew several families that were perfectly cottage core style. Always my favorite style.
@vaderladyl2 жыл бұрын
Exactly. To me it is like a more frilly, feminine country style, the way it used to be back in the 60's, 70's and 80's, like you mentioned. Country is what people call now farmhouse, but I mean the classic farmhouse, not the suburban faux farmhouse.
@CheeseBae2 жыл бұрын
Exactly! It was called English Cottage style here in the USA. You can find books about the style that are decades old. Cottagecore is essentially the Cotswolds aesthetic, and it's been around for centuries.

Loved this video! I especially enjoyed the part where Ariel sat down in a field to discuss cottage core, I'd love to see future shots of you being surrounded by the aesthetic/style you're talking about where possible. My only piece of advice would be the interview with Mona, as the camera focused on you while you introduced the conversation and it took a while for us to even meet and see who the guest was. I would have loved to just see her wave in the camera while you introduced her, so we know who you're talking to. Other than that, this video was super informative and incredibly well-put together! The editing is absolutely wonderful and I can't wait for more episodes

Have a look at the term Biophilia. I also think the mainstreaming of prepper ideas may be an influence. You need to know how to cook, knit or crochet, sew, make furniture, make salves and possets for basic medical care. I think that may be a cultural influence that is hidden under the willow tree beauty of cottagecore.

Country Living UK magazine has been around for decades. Victoria magazine was around for years then it folded but has come back in the last few years. Both did country/relaxed traditional/arts/crafts/cooking/gardening romanticism & nostalgia years and years before "cottage core". CC just stuck a new label on what has been around for a long time. It isn't new just because the twenty somethings noticed it. However what they did do is document it with inauthentic narrative photo's endlessly. Hustling for clicks and likes.
@vaderladyl2 жыл бұрын
Yes that is just plainly a new label for a much older style. The young think that what they like now , was invented by them, when in reality is just a revival of older, forgotten styles.
