The Regimental Song of the old Devonshire Regiment in which my father served. This song was sung at all regimental occasions with great gusto and as children of the REGIMENT WE WERE EXPECTED TO SING IT AS WELL.All now sadly gone now as they became the Devon and Dorsets in 1958 and more recently $ Rifles (I think). but the song still remains .

This melody is so familiar to me, I can't put my finger on it.

The melody is "Ye Sons of Albion" a Napoleonic song. I also have definitely heard the melody somewhere else though.

@@patrioticarchive I've got it, the chorus is the same as the rangers tune 'Billy Boys.' 0:43 "And we'll wear the sash our fathers wore, until the day we die-ie-ie for we are the Billy boys." The more you know!

@@patrioticarchive the Northumberland pipes are quite sweetly sounding. Nothing like the Scot’s great pipes. With a good player I think it may sound quite well
