I just got my first box of the farmers dog my Chihuahuas love it now I originally bought this for my half Chihuahua half dachshund name Gia who has seizures and pancreatitis. My only concern at this moment and I will have to speak with the company is they told me to feed her 1/4 of a cup per day if I break it up into two portions a fourth of a cup is 2 ounces that means she gets an ounce in the morning and an ounce at night? This is my only concern at the moment I absolutely love the dog food for her it is rather pricey on the website they offer already the trial pack for half off no codes are needed. With this being said, just to put her on this full-time right now it’s going to cost me $97 per month if I add my other dog Tucker to it another $97 that means just under $200 per month for the dog food. I do love them and I didn’t I’m boxing as well on my video but my only concern at this moment is the price and the cost. They do give you a slip that tells you what is provided in the meal and people can make this at home now that I’m really looking into it because they give you the actual recipe. I think it’s a fantastic service but I’m thinking it’s pretty expensive for me to feed two Chihuahuas on this meal plan cost me $200 per month make sure everybody reads the fine print because the bigger your dog is the more they need to eat the more it’s gonna cost in addition to all of this people also need to understand that the dogs are still going to remain hungry 1/4 of a cup which is 2 ounces is not even filling up my Chihuahua/dachshund mix I have to add extra green beans in there for her for her to fill up a little bit better and sometimes I do add a little white or brown organic rice I don’t have too much of that because I’m trying to get her to lose 2 pounds but still unless you’re willing to pay a hefty price for this I would suggest you get the recipe and make it at home you can do in a crockpot it’s a set and forget

What about their poo? Is it more formed or like a soft serve ice cream? I find this to be important because it shows how much nutrition the dog is absorbing

Firm and completely normal! If your dog is switching from kibble then you may notice smaller poops!

And nearly impossible to do correctly. I wouldn’t recommend risking it- either get regular pet food (you can find some great stuff, believe it or not) or let the professionals do it! But that’s just me, maybe you know exactly what to feed your pups. Good luck.

I’m a college student who works a full time job and I take care of my puppy. I do not have time to be cooking 3 meals a day for myself and a dog, trust me I rather pay to make sure my dog gets healthy fresh food daily.

Hi! This is the only food I feed my dogs :) Since making this video, my pups have also tried The Famer's Dog pork and new chicken formula. My guys have a huge preference for the turkey and beef - so I alternate between those.

Hi Carlos! The cost is different depending on how much food your dog needs. If you head to their website and fill out a few questions, they use that info to calculate how many calories your dog needs each day. Then, they'll give you the cost :)

No complains at all about the food. BUT the foam 'biodegradable' packaging that is supposed to disintegrate under water. um... no. It creates a soapy mess that does not go down the drain without help. I had to scoop it out and discard on the trash. Also, the food comes in plastic bags and it is very messy to scoop out. It should come in containers instead. Other than that. I love it.

Make sure you are using hot water. Mine went straight down the drain with no problem

I agree, Mauricio Zatarain, about the plastic bags, but since it's already on the pricey side, can you imagine how much MORE expensive it would be if they DID use some type of hard container?😄

I serve mine cold. I tried warming it up once and since there is a high moisture rate in the food, it didn’t look very good and shrunk down the portion size considerably.

Hi could you please give an update it’s been a little while I am contemplating a subscription with “The farmers dog food”. I already cook at home for my dogs and have done this for the last three years but I am sure they are not getting all of the vitamins and nutrients that they need, therefore I am looking that is comparable to The home cooked Meals I prepare for them, But balanced with the vitamins and nutrients included. Hi Janice! I've been feeding The Farmer's Dog for quite some time now and my dogs are doing great on it! I was also home cooking before -- but found myself crunched for time and in need of a solution. I actually started it thinking it would be a temporary thing until my travel schedule eased up, but wound up sticking with it because they love it, they're thriving on it, and it's so convenient! The only problem with these foods is they're soft. So unless your dog chews nylabones or something their teeth will not out as they age. What do you do to encourage an older dog to chew and strengthen their teeth when on this soft food? My dog has a lot of food allergies so I can't entice with anything really

That’s a good point. For my furbaby, I have him chew on Yak Milk Chews and I brush his teeth several times a week.
