Saw this band in the 80's at 'the porterhouse' Retford. God knows why but the bands name just stuck in my head and 20 years later I type it into youtube!

Bit of a weird one this…. At the time I was mainly into US Hardcore and what went onto become thrash metal. But I heard this on the radio one night, loved it and subsequently looked out for it and taped it. I loved but have not heard it since about 1984! Reminds me of sitting in my bedroom with my then girlfriend and usually ending up arguing due to being completely skint. A great trip down memory lane, thanks 👍🏻👍🏻 Edit: still love it, which will soon be 40 years ago! Incredible

so why, when i'm sat in Dubai (a very long way from Norwich) after 26 years of never thinking about this song, did i find myself singing it this morning & having to search for it on KZbin....?!? It is still very, very good, thanks for the posting.
@garethedwards11877 жыл бұрын
Similar with me. Found myself singing 'You say you've lost your girl. It's not the end of the world' then getting to the chorus having not thought of the song for literally decades. I'd forgotten the name of the band (their only hit as far as I know). I don't want to listen to any more of their songs since I know they will only be less good versions of 'Phew Wow' and spoil my sense of how perfect an indie-pop song this is.

One of the band did a podcast two years ago and mentioned this video. He said that they went into a studio and another EMI artist went in before them to shoot their video. They had to wait for quite a while for their turn, so just spent their waiting time drinking, which he then said can be seen in the video!😂😂😂

Haha yeah I heard the same interview - think it was the C86 show. Wonder who the other band was? Anyway great song! Wish they'd rerelease the second album though.

Last time I saw Baz was years ago back in Bungay doing a one off performance at Kings Head for my mates sisters birthday. I think he still lives locally. I went to School with him and Frog from 70 to 77 starting off at Bungay Grammar School.

It got to No.44. TOTP that week decided to dive below the top 40 and went for the No.43 record..... “Big in Japan” by Alphaville. If only Farmers Boys were one place higher that week!!. Still, at least EMI signed them allowing us in turn to enjoy the music they got to release.
