The idea that the Chinese could not travel outside of Chinatown runs contrary to several documentaries that I've seen about the plague and the spread of it. Many wealthy families employed Chinese as domestic help and nannies for the children.

@@GBHForumNetwork I can see why some people these days would object to that. But, they were not slaves. They were free to travel with identification, not that much different than migrants today. And, that was 120 years ago. We have progressed a great deal. Of course, they could be in China where they are required to have a Resident Identity Card (RIC) and show it to police upon request. Most countries have more stringent ID laws than the USA.

"But I have my birth certificate right here!" "That doesn't count because I can't read Chinese."

Chinatown hmmm what about the native Americans that are on reservations at this time these people on the reservations were not allowed off the reservation under penalty of death or life in a hard labor prison and the children were kidnapped and taken to internment schools where they were physically, mentally and sexually abused and murdered chi😢
