As a huge fan of this series, it makes me really happy that you're giving it a chance. I am almost caught-up with the light novel releases, and it gets even better as you go on. The anime does a pretty good job imo at adapting the novels: yes, there are some things that are left out, but the first 2 seasons of the Index anime are pretty damn solid. Season 3 was supposed to be 36 episodes, but Kadokawa forced it to be 26 episodes max. As a result, it was insanely rushed (I read that part after). As an anime only at the time, I still tought of it as the best season: story was great, character writing was god-like, and the final arc was pure gas, but people still hated it, mainly the novel readers. For your first time watching it I would personally recommend to watch the series in release order: Index 1, Railgun 1, Index 2, Railgun 2, Index 3, Accelerator, and then Railgun 3.

Magic being worse than science is the hottest of hot takes among the ln readers, and magic being simple or generic is an even hotter take considering how it’s literally one of the most complex parts of an already complex series, because while science side stuff ties in with physics concepts, the magic stuff will pull you down a rabbit hole to basically all the esoteric stuff you can find irl. Also saying Touma is a bad character or that his power is boring is hella telling that you never actually touched the light novel.

Yeah, index manga is more interesting for me than the railgun manga. But just to clarify, both stories are great (misaka is my favorite) but touma's story is better.

I’d say readers love the Index main story more, while anime watchers like Railgun more, as a rule of thumb. The issue is that the Index anime is dated, and the part that isn’t is rushed. Of course fans would enjoy the Railgun abime more, since it’s more polished, and watchable even without ever seeing Index first.

Index didn't deserve to be consider had generic plot since it was release long before those many other generic anime came after that. GGiguk said that because he watch too many anime that he even consider old anime like Index is generic too.

The reason people come to misaka's defense isn't because of developments after the events in the 4 episodes you've watched. Events in railgun and some of railgun S are Pre-index in the timeline. To aru is a series that chronologically spans only ~2-3 months of time in their world and is meticulously documented and repeated across all to aru series as to current date.

As a person who hasn't read the LN . I think Season 3 was great as hell . I think the people who are being hard on it are LN readers as I am pretty sure they would've skipped stuff . As an anime only it was great as hell especially because it had plot growth majorly and combined the plots . I can understand that if I was a LN reader I would be pissed too but as an anime only its pretty good .

for me as an anime only there is certain moments that really feels like the anime skipped something, for example, Spoiler: the moment accelerator grew white wings, i thought something hype was gonna happen, like he was gonna help touma fight fiamma, but instead he just flew off but then in end after credit scene he was captured for some reason and flying in a helicopter?

A light novel reader told me that he was, spoiler: fighting a very strong important character that was not even mentioned in the anime. Or atleast doing something very important to indirectly help with fixing the current events that is happening.

I guess u did not get it the season 3. I never read the LN for this anime but when I watch the season 3 it felt rush and I got lost on the plot. but if u don't think about the plot and u only carea bout fight. Yah it was great but for the story, no.

@@DemiCape SPOILER TALK I GUESS... Its been 6 years so my memory is a bit blurry but wasn't he fighting the angel girl thing ? He , the other glasses angel girl , the princess , the blonde woman with bangs under her eyes were all fighting that and by the end he sang a song to fix Last Order and flew off or something . Obviously if he was unexplainably being carried into a helicopter or something (I kind of forgot though) that means they left it to get explained for the future season (which btw is idk WHEN will come...😐😐 Again this is just a guess and I have a bit blurry memory on the main plot line as all I know is Fiamma caused a war and the princess did her own thing but was also against Fiamma . Then there was other factions who were fighting or something . While in between all this Accelerator was trying to save Last Order and met with Touma again and became an ally of the angry\psycho Misaka clone . Touma was trying to stop Fiamma who was taking Index under his control or something . The blonde MC made up with the laser beam throwing Level 5 (After he embarrassed her like 3 times) . Btw the end Fiamma was badly injured by the guy who has been in a glass tank through out the story and was visited by two people . Injured Touma was approached by two people (Who I don't were before introduced) and apparently knew him before he had lost his memories .

As far as my own sweaty monkey take regarding the watch order, I would suggest the release order of the seasons between the three series. As someone who is also anime only, it'll be the experience we all got at the time these shows originally aired. However it's your channel do whatever you feel like.

Im an anime only fan but i love this story, and mainly misaka and touma encounters/team ups. But as a lot of people has said, the 3rd season was a miss because they cut a lot of content that should have stayed. Many of the scenes jump between storylines without anything connecting it. Aside from that, all 3 series are great. I still have not finished the 2nd cour of railgun T because it hurts me to see a character that i liked (she was in fourth place in my top 5 characters from this show) being so happy, after i saw how she ended.

One thing you shouldn't miss in this series is to Read Index Light Novel cause the world building and characters of them is so damn good and the concept 🤯 also you should not miss to watch Railgun Anime cause so far in terms of anime adaptation Railgun is the superior one out of all the series specially the 2nd season, the story, the artstyle, the background music, the animation are so good and when I said good its really that good I watched anime for almost 25+yrs and that is one of the best that I watched well that is my opinion and I'm not being bias just because I like misaka, actually I became a fan of her after reading the railgun manga and after watching Railgun series I agree I also not a big fan of Misaka in Index series cause I don't know why she act so aggressive towards Touma without any reason but in Railgun series her character make a lot of sense and I can relate to her character the most in the series.

I'll be honest, in terms of anime specifically, I like Railgun S the most, closely followed by Railgun T. Index just isn't adapted properly in my opinion, not only S3. But if you're enjoying it anyway, that's cool. It's a very unique and interesting franchise, but due to poor reception, we may never get new Index and Railgun seasons, and that's sad.

Reading the manga is good the manga have a good adoption and very brutal 2 arc that focuses on the main character got cut but they are currently on the Accalator this one of Accalator turning point manga art is really good in higher chp

Best watch order to anime I could think is like: season 1 > half of season 2 > railgun 1 > index 2 > half of index 3> railgun 2 > index 3 > accelerator > railgun 3. It's not perfect because messy adaptations and different references to other arc, but still have more sense than two seasons of railgun after first season of index and other bullshit orders.

i will say that even though i love the index franchise im not in the group that highly rates the spinn offs because so of them like Railgun are index from the pov of Misaka and i kind of don't recommend Accelorators spin off because it is very boring people say season 3 of index was a slog but thats how i feel about accelerator spin off

Index anime cuts out a lot of stuff (and iirc changed some stuff too) from the LN like the inner monologue, backstories and I think there's an arc/volume that didn't make it too. About season 3, it was very rushed, so for anime onlys it will be confusing. For comparison. S1 adapted 6 vols in 24 eps, S2 adapted 7 vols in 24 eps and S3 adapted 9 vols in 26 eps. It's no wonder why S3 is hated by the Toaru fandom.

@@yuuyasakaki000 that’s pretty normal for anime tho and like quick pretending that the rush was needed or forced onto them, then it could’ve gone way worse Sure it’s a fair point, but so is the argument that their season take years to come out and covering all parts can’t work … that’s their struggle to discuss what’s important enough or where they wanna get to as fast as possible, from my standpoint a well planned rush is probably a good sign that the next season will be a very good one Idk over all that’s just not enough of an argument for me, but I fully understand that that’s just my own opinion on the matter

Railgun anime adaptation is better than Index since the producer of Index 3 didn't even know what it is and the context of the whole Index story. He tried to skip most of the context in the story to finish it in 26 episodes. They make most of the fight scenes look lame and rushed. You can't squeeze 9 volumes of Index LN into anime and expect it to be good, but Railgun on the other hand is far less context and story than Index. Also, Railgun story is based on the manga which is easier to adapt, Unlike Index which is straight up from the LN.
