The region we know today as Gilgit-Baltistan is sandwiched between the Pamir Pleatue in the northwest and the Tibetan Pleatue in the northeast. As the stories tell, the first signs of human settlement in this rugged terrain date back to the Stone Age, long before any Abrahamic religions arose. Various archaeological evidence and indications from cultural and traditional sources indicate that the first known (practiced) religion of the people of this region was shamanism. Now, shamanism, unlike Abrahamic or other non-revealed religions (Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, Zoroastrianism) does not have a definite set of basic principles/principles. It is a collection of various rituals, offerings, legends of mythical creatures, etc. Practitioners of shamanism existed all over the world and they all had almost different ways of practicing it. But the most common aspect was the role of the shaman. Every tree, plant or animal was a symbol. A symbol with meaning and significance. Man and nature were considered interdependent. It seems that somehow man had accepted an unwritten pact of mutual respect with nature.
