i think the major difference between influencers and celebrities is that influencers "make it" because of their audience, whereas for celebrities their audience is a side effect of them making it. celebrities can be untouchable if they have good standing in their industry and with powerful people in their industry, whereas influencers are subject to the whims of the masses regardless of their standing in the industry because they rely on their audience's adoration and parasocial relationships to make money. kim kardashian has so many fingers in so many pies that she'll never be taken down. matilda djerf is just a flash in the pan.

Interesting take! I guess it also goes to the question of cancel culture and whether we hold influencers and celebrities to different standards when they do something 'cancellable.' Thanks for watching xx

This is truly one of the best takes I’ve seen on this. No sensationalism. And context to get to the root of the problem! 👏🏼

you said some real valuable points that are based on research, evidence and your opinion- love it and glad found your channel! it can be really discouraging as a designer to start a new brand and establish REAL values of sustainability. The industry exploitations problems are known, but its actually impossible to break down the levels/layers of it to start anew towards more sustainable systems. its the way its been built and operate for centuries. also, Sustainability is not yet totally defined. Im usually optimistic but its just not realistic. I believe it will only evolve to be better slowly but gradually, hopefully. Based on the title. I thought this video will be more of a cultural prediction for the influencers brands - wondering your thoughts on that!

Yes absolutely - it's a slow process and we absolutely should hold out hope! Honestly I'm not sure where the influencer brand industry is heading, with greater concerns about transparency & greenwashing in the fashion industry I wonder whether we might see more influencers follow Emma Chamberlain's suit and go into non-fashion related fields? So difficult to tell! Thanks so much for watching xx
