Thank You, I've been wasting so much time doing my video captions manually.

This looks awesome. I have researched xpress scribe, MAXQDA, FTW transcriber, Descript and F4 Transcriptor. The latter seemed to work but wouldn't export as an SRT file. I'll report back after I have tried camtasia. Only worry is cost!

Do subtitles help search performance? Thinking that KZbin/Google could index the written content.

Yes, as long as you upload them by way of an SRT file rather than baking them into the videos.

Hello I subscribed to your channel as I am learning the new camtasia 22 edition right now.question.Do you learn your transcript or do you leave it up somewhere and read off it?

Thanks for subscribing! I'll be making more videos soon :-) Most of the videos I've made here are memorizing one line at a time, and then I cut out all the times where I look down at my script (jump cuts). I have also used a teleprompter for a couple videos as well... one that attaches directly to my camera lens :-)

Great video, thank you

You have made an excellent effort to show how the process works. However, one particularly important aspect is that if one had a twenty-minute video, I believe, one would have to spend hours setting up the individual segments' captions. I do not think there is anything out there (at the time of writing this comment) that does this part of editing automatically and flawlessly, except (maybe) DaVinci Resolve and some other high-end video editors.

I made this video almost exactly 2 years ago... before the onslaught of AI tools. There are certainly more ways to get subtitles and captions into videos today, but I haven't found a replacement for the method I used in this video... when you have a full transcript... in fact, it's only available in Camtasia for Windows (not the Mac version).

Dear Rob, Many thanks for your very kind advice which I do appreciate. If you come across a better way to deal with captions I am sure you will let us know. With kind regards. @@RobtheMaritimer

Can we export transcripts from camtasia as a plain text (no timestamps)?
@RobtheMaritimer Жыл бұрын
No... however, there are free tools available that will "strip out" time stamps from SRT files and leave you with just the transcript. "Subtitle Edit" is one such app :-)
