Great video - loved the bloopers at the end 😂 I recently started (like a month ago) uploading videos and this is EXACTLY the reason I chose not to be on camera! I think I would lose my mind redoing stuff over and over again. Some good points made though, which are applicable even to a channel like mine where there is no speech/presenter. At the moment just seeing where it goes and enjoying the ride. I’m well over 40 years old and it’s awesome to hear of channels like yours blowing up from 3k subscribers to 18k in a few weeks, well done!

I have started to produce videos like this on one of my channels. Yes I have 4 channels......But I find them spontaneous and more enjoyable to do for me. It is one reason I like to do Live Streams is because it is just you and the camera. Just don't like the quality of Live Stream Mobile.

Having multiple channels is good if you have the time to manage them all and have completely separate topics that you want to keep separated (different audiences, etc). Live streams can be fun... I like them too :-)

I don’t make any money but I really enjoy making the videos. I have a small following and mostly talk about knitting and pets. My most watched video is how to sew badges on uniforms , who knew that would be so popular. I like your advice but don’t want to sell people things. somehow what I say is off the cuff but always comes out.

If you enjoy doing KZbin as a hobby and that's all you want it to be then that's totally fine!! KZbin is a fantastic way to "be creative" and also to capture memories, thoughts, etc. And isn't it cool how videos that we don't think will be popular end up being our MOST popular! Funny how that happens :-) All the best!

Hello Rob, how are you? I'm starting a KZbin channel about watches. I'm a watch enthusiast and dealer, but English is not my native language. I know it quite well, but I have a slight Russian accent. I can make some mistakes and sometimes forget words, using simpler words instead. What do you think about that? Which advice you can give me?
@RobtheMaritimer
@RobtheMaritimer Сағат бұрын
Sounds like that could be a great channel! If you're concerned with your accent and that people may have a hard time understanding you, try to consciously speak as clearly as you can and try not to speak too fast. That's the best advice when you're trying to reach an audience who may not have the same accent as you do. I hope that helps! Best of luck :-)

I started my channel in January 2024 and learned all the fancy stuff. I was doing well, but EXHAUSTING myself. In the last 10 days, I made 3 videos with the style you’re referring to. I call them, “sit and chats.” That said, those three videos all hit my top 3 out of 10 and are keeping people watching longer. My average watch time now is between 4-6 minutes rather than 2 minutes. I’m so happy and feel like I can finally be myself.

Isn't it liberating!? You've discovered (like I have) that putting LESS effort into the editing and just sitting down and chatting about a topic actually does better on KZbin than the highly edited videos that take so much longer to create. That's fantastic! COngrats to you, keep at it, and enjoy the process! Onward and upward!! :-)

You can put as much or as little into it as you want to or can... no need to put tons of time in it to start. I suggest just starting and only do what you can or have time for. It's a perfect time to get your feet wet and just start practicing making videos since getting good at it usually takes some time and practice. It would be great to have a bunch of practice under your belt for when you do decide to take it more seriously. Best of luck to you :-)

Congratulations on your growth. Your content is very helpful and inspiring! I’ve had a KZbin account for years but have only used it to watch videos and make personal playlists. (I did post one video of a mountain lion encounter, but that’s it). If I want to start making videos and eventually make money from them, do I need to do anything special to designate my channel or can I just start making and posting videos and let KZbin do the rest? Hope that makes sense.
@RobtheMaritimer
@RobtheMaritimer 2 сағат бұрын
Thank you :-) And no, there's nothing you need to do to designate your channel... but as you get closer to the 1,000 subscriber and 4,000 watch hours you'll need to apply to the KZbin Partner Program. It's not automatic which is why you have to apply. Channels generally get accepted fairly quickly... I think mine took 24 hours. Good luck to you :-)

Your video kept popping up in my recommendations, and I definitely agree with you. I'm 36 and created another KZbin channel not too long ago where i share my life experiences and lessons I've learned so far. I had one where I read tarot and got up 700+ subscribers within a couple of months, but I got rid of it due to being overwhelmed.
