The fastest air-breathing Jet had this engine in 1945!

Another special thanks for the Jet Age Museum in Gloucestershire. When I saw this engine there, I thought it looked special, but I didn’t realise just quite how special these Rolls-Royce Derwent’s were!   Whilst is clearly a shame Sir Frank Whittle’s great idea for a turbine jet engine (that he had in 1930!) wasn’t taking up sooner, it was in the end, it and it truly changed the world…
