You picked the absolute worst day and time possible to do this challenge. Next time you're in town, try it again on any day but Wednesday or do it earlier in the morning or later at night. I used to work in Times Square years ago and you couldn't even plan to go out to pick up lunch on a Wednesday because of the matinee crowds. As you point out, rather than staggering mid-week matinees the way the West End does, almost all Broadway shows do their mid-week matinee on Wednesday and it just makes navigating Times Square on Wednesdays so much more challenging.

I was exhausted watching this video and I never left my couch! I’m impressed by your ability to talk continuously while walking that fast. You didn’t even seem that winded. I love the Belasco Theater for its historic qualities and the Walter Kerr Theater because it’s where I saw my favorite show (Hadestown).

It's so cool to see a Broadway challenge! What would be cool is if you team up with your friends in NYC to visit each Broadway theatre, but you get extra points for the number of shows you've seen in each theatre. That would be fun to watch!

I was in New York the same time as you! I'm a big musical theater fan from LA and went there for work and took the opportunity to see a bunch of shows after work every day. I've been enjoying the content since I feel like I had the same experience as you rushing from show to show and powerwalking through times square to make it to the theaters lol

This was so much fun!! You would made it easily if that dang Vivian Beaumont Theatre wasn't concidered Broadway even though the definition of a Broadway theatre is a theatre that has 500 seats or more and is geographically located between 41st Street and 54th Street and between 6th and 8th Avenues in Manhattan."The only theatre that does not follow this rule is the Vivian Beaumont Theater, located at Lincoln Center by West 65th Street. Who let them in??😃 One reason this was so fun is I just got back yesterday from being there!! I ususally like to see all the theatres too (not in an hour!!) but I could only be there one day. I flew from Oregon to see Jenn in Suffs. Just as I was about to go to the matinee, I got a message from her that she would miss both shows that day due to allergies!! Even though I was disappointed, I did LOVE the show and glad I saw it twice. I will have to go back someday to see her in that role, it was made for her. The swing was good too. I stayed at the Hotel Edison. I have never been there before and was sorry I didn't have time to experience those singing waiters. When I was walking by someone was finishing Defying Gravity, she was amazing!! Next to Suffs, the best thing I did was to to Schmackary's (Thanks to you and Aeron)!OMG, I have NEVER had such delicious baked goods!!! I almost got the giant Reese's peanut butter cup but after eating cookies, I couldn't handle all that sugar, next time!!

I think you did a phenomenal job. I always get turned around in the theater district. Just as long as I know where 7th and 8th are then I can figure it out from there. You were wise in taking the breezeways to get from one street to another. It was a valiant attempt.👍🙏👏👏👏👏👏❤️😜
@LightningRound1st5 ай бұрын
You should definitely try again. For the next attempt, you need to be more New Yorker and less Londoner. Push your way through the crowds. Loudly say, "Excuse me" or "Coming through" as you push through the crowd. Also, you don't need to wait for the light when crossing streets, unless it is unsafe. Incorporate these tips and you'll finish with some time to spare.

Good effort and I would consider it a successful challenge. As a lifelong New Yorker, I don’t really consider the Viv Beaumont a Broadway theater since it is nowhere near the actual theater district. It has something to do with that theater being Tony eligible. I don’t know who decided that. That being said maybe you can try a similar route on a Saturday morning around 9 am if u r up that early on your next visit if u want to include it on your next visit to NYC.
@ThexImperfectionist5 ай бұрын
Did you track your steps?! Other thoughts: 1) &Juliet is not only about to be the last musical standing from that year, it was also the biggest shutout on Tony night with 9 noms and 0 wins. Very interesting! 2) I have a lifehack that you'll either hate or will blow your mind. If you have a coat you don't want to carry, you can drape it through one of your backpack straps so it kind of hangs by your hip. Tricky if the coat is bulky or wrinkles easily but frees up your hands! That's all I have to offer today. I'm off to languish about in light of the Lempicka cast album being delayed again. Will you react to it when it comes out?? That could be fun!

Omg I might try this next time I'm in NY haha. Have seen shows at 33 out of 41 :) This was helpful for pointing out the breezeways a couple of which I didn't know about, they are lifesavers when navigating!

I love the editing of your challenges, as always! I think if you'd done it at a different time of day (and hadn't given us brilliant speed-run tour commentary), you definitely would have finished on time. But you did get the very New Yorker experience of 'I have things to do! Why are these people in my way?!!' So I suppose you'll just have to come back and try again... ;)

I didn't know you were back in the U.S. You're going to become a regular New Yorker. Have you thought about going to theater in other parts of the country. A number of plays try out in other cities, including where I live, Washington, DC. The northeast of the U.S. is very accessible via Amtrak's Northeast Corridor going from D.C. to Boston.
@yankee045 ай бұрын
Valiant effort. Great and fun attempt. I think you can do it if you do it a little earlier on a non-matinee day, and have the have the same luck catching the subway. The little bit of backtracking cost you so once you fix that, it could work. Well done.
@ajbelongia44535 ай бұрын
I would have started at Lincoln Center. Take the 1 train to 50th Street and do the Gershwin/Circle up to Studio 54. Then come back down picking up the Broadway, Neil Simon, August Wilson cross. over and catch Broadway and pick up the Winter Garden and all the ones on the East side of Times Square. When you get to the Belasco which is almost on the corner of 6th Avenue use that street instead of coming back to Times Square I think that is where you lost a lot of time crossing back and forth. WHen you get down to the Sondhiem then cross over and catch the Nederlander and work back up on the West side. (Use 8th Ave). I its probably more walking (remember the E/W blocks are A LOT longer than the N/S blocks) but you won't spend as much time with traffic.

Sadly I think you made a mistake at the beginning by not getting out at Columbus Circle and starting at Studio 54. You killed a few minutes by going all the way down to 42nd (or 40th) Street and then doubling back going Uptown. And your East/West travel was a bit disorganized. But it was a great effort. Try again, after catching your breath. ;-)

My East / West was absolutely disorganised haha! Still not convinced about Columbus Circle though, that's 5 blocks to walk!
