i can't overstate how useful and appreciated these types of videos are. for example, at @5:15, while describing reloading, the simple addition of showing the images of which rigs you're talking about AND their inventory grid, is such a practical attention to detail that allows you to instantly have a further level of understanding about the topic at hand. that's a small example, but in other words, you never have to seek out further information after watching a @Gigabeef video. they are so fully comprehensive that they truly TEACH you, instead of spouting subjective BS. keep it up man!!!

@@keybored- For some previous ones - maybe, but definitely not in this one. And considering potentially useful action with animation (stim/medkit/bandage etc) this reload can be even faster, than one from the backpack or with movement between primary weapon slots.

I used the T-45M1 with the RPD a lot this wipe. Mostly because you can easily purchase a huge amount of them and my playstyle with this gun is just complete indiscriminate bullet-hosing everyone I see. Very liberating to bring in a large amount of rounds in each raid. Also 30 pen is a perfect sweet spot in Tarkov atm with how soft armor works. Btw I'd love to see some science done on aim punch between bullets, because I swear certain calibers give significantly more aim punch than others. I remember from the patch where the UMP was king, that the aim punch from those rounds was really brutal. I suspect perhaps the RPD is benefitting a lot from this as blasting your enemy with bullets completely disorientates them with aim punch. Also I wonder how stamina drain is affected by different calibers. A lot to think about here imo.

In real life open bolt weapons like this and the m249 SAW or the 240 typically only fail with misfires aka bad ammo, improper cleaning, Overheating/melting the barrels off or lack of lube. Misfires are the real killer of man when using a gun like this :)

@@TheHighsmith8 Because the grind for this game takes longer and longer. Quest unlocks get pushed back, more flea market restrictions on guns and ammo, the gatekeeping is getting worse and worse it's very hard to want to grind the same tasks for the 8th time in a row with small changes.

@@TheHighsmith8 This wipe is excessively slow. Most people don't want to play 30 hours to unlock a bullet that can pen class 3 armor. Most PMCs hide and player scavs with no value in killing run around grabbing everything. We'll come back when there's actually something new to do but the game's been the same tasks for too long.

Pro tip- If you use a painkiller or heal or even drinking, while still in the animation right click mag and select install and you will reload your weapon instantly. Great for long reload times and you can do it while serving.

I ran the RPD(N) a bunch earlier in the wipe; I can't back up my comment with any proof but 7.62x39 just feels weak this wipe? PS, PP and even BP just don't seem to do much for me. I'd rather run 856A1 in an AUG (just to name a ~700rpm gun) or upgrade to 7.62x51 Maybe it's just me (just saw you get to that same point in the video I guess)

@@originalthundercat4295 Gotta hit the thorax man. BP will 2-3 tap thorax with the nearly 60 pen. Nothing can defend against it. Issue is if you're sprayin and praying you can eat a lot of BP spread out amongst your limbs/stomach/etc

To put it simply: Yes, 762x39 is not as competitive as before. All guns got a recoil buff (duh), but the top tier 762x39 guns aren't busted, nor is BP because as GB said: You don't need it (and don't get access to it until far later anyway). 545 and 556 got small damage increases, bringing them closer to the damage of 762x39 whilst still having considerably better recoil than it even after recoil buffs. And other non-intermediate choices became possible, like pretty much all crappy pistol cartridges becoming effective, and 762x51 M80 being accessible far earlier. Having said all of that I run ak104's with PS, why? Because PS got unchanged, and it was good enough before, and now is technically far better, due to less class 4+ coverage on everyone, and the guns being usable (and cheap) after the recoil rework. I don't have access to better but still as cheap ammo rn, and most still don't have access to class 5 armour, so as it stands PS is completely usable, but if you have access to m856a1/m855a1/BT/M80, then use that.

Ironic how it's rare for the RPD go jam in this game but irl, the early RPDs after a prolonged prolonged burst would cause the link to catch in the chamber or straight up fail to feed the round. Nowadays, the more modern RPDs are used with disintegrating links

Got in naked mosin once as a man wont to do. Killed a few scavs and one had this, and another had some ps 7.62. I think i was tagged and cursed because the raid ended with 28 scav kills on ps and us ammo. Still remember camping in a bush reloading that monstrosity. 10/10 would go again.

another reload trick (not sure if patched but it works in arena) is to use a med, then right click install from inventory to not go through any reload animation

For me the best reload cheese is healing then right-click from inventory. It's instant, and very easy.

The MOA for the RPD is better than other guns such as the SR-25 because of the barrel length relative to the caliber. The SR-25 has a 16 inch barrel and the MK17 long is a 20 inch barrel, both are in 7.62x51mm. The RPD has a 20.5 inch barrel in its long barrel with 7.62x39mm
