It's locked so far down the lightkeeper questline and vastly over valued on the flea that it's never going to be a balance problem. That means BSG will remove it from the flea and marked rooms so only sweaty no lifers will ever get to use it after this wipe.

This is basically the conclusion I came too. As I am the only one in the LK questline, my buddies asked me how it was and basically, it would be the absolute meta if not for the cost, as it costs similar to the black MDR and it comes fully modded, not to mention the ammo is incredible for the recoil and cost

BSG do this with nearly every new gun - make it OP for the first wipe it appears to generate excitement, then a nerf in the next wipe. SR2MP, SVT/AVT, etc are recent examples.

Some are shit since their release. But like in every shooter this is called balancing the META. And hopefully an old design smg and a 19th century rifle should not be overpowered and so easy to shoot. SVT is still too good IMHO

Makes sense that it's op in game, it's an excellent rifle irl. Very good armor penetration, very good lethality, very good accuracy and range. I'd be interested to see the XM157 "aimbot scope" for it in game too, but that might be a little too much.

Gun itself can easily cost you 600k+ roubles if you're buying it from the flea market. So realistically we're looking at more than million roubles for a raid kit... might as well just fully pack it with best ammo.

Theres only one reason why Id use FMJ, and thats to "larp" as a US Army man, SIG FMJ exists as training ammo because its cheaper and less hard on the gun, and Hybrid is for actual combat with its additional capabilities. Everyone else considering using the SPEAR should absolutely just use hybrid

Yet no one talks about how it weighs more than the SA-58 with a drum mag, and costs more than it as well. Base weight for the SPEAR is 4.320 KG, Base weight for the SA-58 and 3.951KG, almost a full pound, which does get in the way of people who haven't been building strength. All in all, SA-58 is more cost effective regardless of its recoil pattern, even if you bring in 3+1 mags of 60 rounders filled with M80.

This thing has way more recoil than what is shown in game. Honestly a full auto well gassed fn fal looks to be way easier to control. With both guns it makes no sense to ever run them in full auto. Spear is punishing enough in semi auto and makes rapid accurate fire way harder than with an m4a1 or a Urgi

Spear fanboy here. It s just a multicaliber heavy ar 18, nothing crazy about it. And i dont think it is good in every situation. For example in cqc. 300. Blackout or 5.56 are the gold standard and special force are still using their 416 or their mcx. Actually it is just a heavier scar-H and like the mk17 before it will never replace intermediate cartridge shooting rifles.

Equivalent rpm to an m4 shooting a round that is zipping down range faster with more energy transferred at the point of impact. The spear is straight out better than any platform utilizing 556 or 300 blackout. You need to read on the 6.8x51 which is the military designation for 277 Fury but the difference between the two is like 223 REM compared to M855. The 6.8x51 is capable of 80k psi for the pressure chamber……that’s fucking crazy cause it’s more than 50 bmg which is substantially bigger. When the NGSW program became a thing, the product is the Spear and its new round.

What about cqc? Urban warfare ?what about overpenetration? What about the noise of such a round. Fullsize cartridge for infantry was already a mistake made in the beginning of the century, it s still one but a very expansive one this time. And in the end, what about the plateform ? The sig spear itself you're loving so much? Because you were talking about the cartridge a lot. High rpm as you said ? No one is going full auto with a 20 round mag with very expansive rounds and furthermore with AR10 like high recoil.

If you have the capability to keep yourself above 10mil constantly, in my opinion. I'm at 40mil but can drop 5 mil in a single night, but always make that back thru scavs and light loot runs. Basically know what loot sells for a lot in the flea and know your high value loot spots.

you carry less ammo with it, its heavy, higher recoil impulse than an ar-15 pattern rifle, it doesn't do its job on punching through lv 4 plates at range, and the vortex optic system can be used with any rifle with rails. there is nothing special about the spear, the army looped back around to battle rifles that will be dropped again for intermediate cartridges as soon as the next forever war takes place if they ever mass adopt the rifle. please explain how its the culmination of small arms development in your own words, its literally just an ar-18 system in a necked down 308. hardly ground breaking

Both as PMC and Pscav I ALWAYS kill spear boys with full kits. But as soon as I pick up a spear I end up dying to some Timmy. That gun is absolutely cursed for me. So many times I've wiped 3 mans and then got rolled by some random AI scav one tap thorax or a Timmy lmao
