If you're trying to build this on day 1 and you're hurting for iron, you can do the collection system with 1 hopper instead of 9. Just put the hopper in the corner of the drop chamber facing into the chest. Then replace the remaining 8 hoppers with solid blocks. Put a water source in the opposite corner of the drop cute from your hopper and then make a glass wall above the chest. You should get a 3x3 area of flowing water right below the signs that hold up the lava. The water will push the drops towards your one hopper and the glass will help direct the water and keep the items from popping out.

For issues you may be having: -Use a spruce, oak etc boat ONLY as bamboo rafts are too high for villagers to see and be scared of the zombie. -Make the surrounding area above ground out of path blocks, this prevents golems from spawning anywhere but the pit -If you are still having the spawn location issue, put a zombie on a floating block above the pit, place a block above its head and nametag it. Place trapdoors around the pit so golems will agro on the zombie and run right in. Hope this helps :)

@@Dude-Funflight im not the commenter but when you right click grass with a shovel, it turns into a path block which mobs (including iron golems) cant spawn on! you can also surround the area with carpets i believe, but path blocks are easier

@@akii8685 I had the same problem, it worked fine and stopped working. For me it seemed like the problem was that one of the villagers was unable to sleep. I completely sealed the vision to the zombie and all slept, then once I opened it worked again. Villagers must have slept once in the last 20 min for them to spawn.

I would recommend going 20-25 blocks down because in order for a villager to attempt to summon an iron golem there needs to be none in a certain span of blocks, so the lower you go, the more efficient the farm is.

Tip if you are struggling with iron golems spawning where you don't want them to. Fill in all the surround caves with water to stop golem spawning in them. Place a zombie above the trap hole with shade in a boat. Put a large fence around the farm and fill in with torches to avoid any mobs coming close and distracting the golems. My farm wasn't working at all until I tried doing all that now it works a charm

I built this farm. Had a few issues that I had to iron out, no pun intended. I flattened an island to build this and had to make sure there was not place for the golem to spawn in the villager pit. I used carpet to achieve this, as per a comment in this video. The drops keep getting stuck though so I reset them and hopefully they will fall into the chest.

For the people that it is not working for, in 1.21 I needed to dig one further down for the villager holding areas (?), also make sure the boats cover the 6 blocks that are exposed by the zombie, or just spawnproof those blocks, since otherwise the iron golem can spawn there, (happened to me). And as a lot of other people are saying, if they spawn above ground just put a zombie in the middle of the drop above so that the golems can see it.

Or put torches in open spaces. I put torches on every block of the zombie room so nothing even golems can spawn there. Torches don't effect anything other than the spawning while carpeting could mess with line of sight. But I assume it didn't for you

If you get golems to spawn in the zombie space, just put fences around the boat. As in, you should have 4 fences in total, 2 far left and 2 far right, then just make sure the boat is pushed up against the wall so that the zombie can't hit the villagers, and the iron golem can't spawn on the fences.

It's because this farm's design doesn't account for this issue: The villager has not detected an iron golem in the last 30 seconds An iron golem is detected when it is within 16 blocks of the villager (±16X ±16Z ±16Y axis) The villager scans for golems once every 10 seconds When one golem spawns the villagers will see it and reset their 30 second timers. If you get lucky, the spawn happens early in the villagers 10 second scan period and you get more than 1 spawn. The problem is there are 12 different villagers and possible 12 different start and stop times for their 10 second scan. There's almost no statistical way to get 4 spawns at once this way, but you will basically get anywhere between 1-3 spawns per 30s cycle. I think this farm would be better off just putting 4 collection areas for the golems on the corners of the 26x26 grid and either just have 4 collection areas or do a little tunneling and water management 15+ blocks below ground to get them converging. That makes it mostly as easy without running into the golem detection issue.

Seeing some great results in my Survival World. Made the mistake of not building it on a flat so that was a mission.... but still have Golems spawning around the drop chute and not in it. Quick fix was getting another zombie in a boat above the hole and placing trapdoors along the sides to make them track the zombie and fall in. Works mint

@@GrimSmith-w8z My solution was to put a zombie in a boat about 5 blocks high above the drop chute. Make sure to cover your zombie also! I then placed trapdoors along the sides of the drop chute and closed them, as it makes the iron golems think there’s a full block there. So they spawn in, track the zombie and fall in because of the trapdoor trick. I had to implement this because my golems were just chilling 🤣

This farm still works in 1.21. Also I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this but if you aren't seeing any golems spawning (or they were for a while and aren't anymore) check the rooms where the zombies are. I had a golem in one of mine. To fix this I put carpet under the two slabs and the trap door separating the zombie and villagers. Also if your boat is only taking up four blocks rather than six, place carpets or torches on those blocks. ( I'm not sure if torches are a substitute as I haven't tried them but I believe anything to spawn proof these blocks should work)

For those who wanna build this but are not able to find a flat area, just dig or build a 37by37 blocks flat are and build everything aroudn the center point. This will make sure there are no spots on the surface iron golems can spawn, and you can then easily build and decorate or whatver above the ground with no risk of creating spawnpoints for the golem. Jut make sure the villagers are dug 7 blocks down.

This video was a little hasty and missed some important points. So, here's what I discovered: 1) If you're going to breed the third villager in the chamber, make sure that the gaps above the slabs and below the trapdoor are covered, otherwise the baby villager will wind up in the boat. 2) When you place the boat down, make sure your cursor is centered on the middle block AND on the edge of the side facing opposite the villager chamber. In other words, if the villager chamber is to your left, then make sure the cursor is on the right edge of the middle block. Otherwise the zombie will be too close and kill the villagers. 3) Carve out a path to get out so you don't move the boat after placing it down. A little nudge towards the villager chamber will result in the villagers eventually dying. 4) Make sure the area is flat, at least 8 blocks to the furthest side of the villager chambers, otherwise golems will spawn on the lower ground near the chamber. 5) And though this was mentioned, it's important to put down torches on every open block in the zombie chamber, and on the stairs. Also, I noticed that when the zombie has to step down into the boat from the stairwell, it's far less likely to get stuck in the boat. But if the zombie has a flat block to step on before the boat, it's almost a 100% success rate. So, start the stairs one block deeper than what is shown in the video.

Also a suggestion, add a whole block ( i used slabs didnt work) to the roof where the zombie is and fill in the stair way down. The iron golems manage to spawn in there and kill the zombie!

For those who still can't find the reason it's not working I recommend checking if there is a cave where a golem might've spawned. You can check it manually or there are a few minimap mods which show you the mobs as icons on a minimap, use that to see if golems are spawning anywhere other than the water pit. For me there was a cave nearby where a golem spawned and I could only find it because I was using minimap mod. I killed it and filled up the cave around 10 blocks around the villagers and it started working again. Also be careful if you're going to AFK in front of the killing area as zombies or maybe ither mobs can survive the lava and come and kill you. I was killed by a zombie in that manner so I put glass in front of killing area and now it's all good. And this is just my opinion but I like using villager in a bucket mod to easily move villagers. Note - these are not heavy mods and will not affect your fps unless you're on a potato PC.

Check if your villagers are actually getting scared. It's possible the boat was too close and they were killed by the zombie. Or maybe the boat is placed in a suboptimal way that causes the villagers to only be scared if they stand in a very specific spot

@@aidangeorge7012 When I place my boat (I'm on 1.20.4) I try put but it as central as possible in the 2x3 space there is left in the hole. When I check the villagers at night and they aren't scared, I hop in the boat with the zombie and try to tilt it a bit and then get out and check if the villagers are waking up now. Make sure when you exit the boat that you are looking as far as you can behind you, otherwise you will spawn under the trapdoor or the slabs you placed in front of the boat and the zombie might kill you if you are too slow :) Also don't forget, the villagers must have slept in the beds at least once before you place a zombie in the boat!

Anyone having the issue of golems not spawning frequently? I built mine exactly to the specs... 3 blocks diagonal out, 7 blocks down, same exact bed, slab, and trap door arrangements, zombies in boats, same room size, same exact death pit construction. I collected about 40 iron in an hour. Is the constant villager panic the issue? Do they need to be able to sleep, and thus break line of sight with the zombies? I even placed job blocks and gave them jobs just in case. Only generates iron golems every 10 minutes or so, sometimes none for a half hour, etc. Very infrequent.

Right under/adjacent to the farm, there was a massive cave that was within the spawn zone the villagers were creating, so the iron golems were all spawning in that cave. I tediously went through and filled the entire thing with blocks to prevent them from spawning in there and then the whole thing worked wonderfully. Maybe dig all around the area surrounding your villagers to see if there's an open cavity they can spawn in.

I built this farm and ran it for an hour on hard difficulty. Output was 553 iron ingots. Very respectable, but not the 1450 promised in the title. My guess is the title has extrapolated from running the farm overnight, i.e. not taking into account the day-night cycle. By the way, tip for anyone running into golems spawning outside the pool: the spawning algorithm checks six blocks up from where the beds are, which is why you dig down six blocks. It checks eight blocks horizontally, so all terrain around the pool inside eight blocks from any bed MUST be above the pool level (i.e. more than six blocks above the beds).

But ultimately I slabbed out from the hole like 15slabs out around the entire hole. Surrounded it with slabs. And it works perfectly now. Tons of iron

if your having problems getting the villager into the hole (pause🤨) try driving the boat over the hole and destroying the boat. villager should fall right in. if you decide to breed 2 villagers inside the whole make sure you place a block in between the 2 slabs so that it cant run out.

3:48 A quick tip that isn’t mentioned: make sure your village pockets all go in the same direction. What I mean is: at one corner, you can choose which direction you dig that 3 block trench. Make sure that the corners go perpendicular to each other. If you dig the first trench 3 blocks towards the north/south, the adjacent corners need to be east/west. The opposite corner will be north/south. This will increase efficiency of spawns by limiting the chance the villagers detect other iron golems being made

maybe someone can help me out here. I build the farm over a deep lake, so in the air. It worked fine for about one hour, but suddenly stopped working. I had the zombie in a boat, but thought it might not "scare" the villagers enough so i gave it a nametag and removed the boat, but it still wont produce anything. - The villagers are all standing in the same corner of their chamber as well, might be usefull information.

Are you Ble to put the village y block above the spawn plat form if you prevent spawning ina 8 radius of beds? Trying to have this righ under a zombie spawner as the server peacful mode and can only get mobs from spawners

I like the design it was easy to set up! However im “only” getting around 700/hour. Ive filled in some caves with slabs but is there an easy way to check if the golems are spawning somewhere they shouldnt be? - I just have a few beacons id like to set up so it would be nice to get the 1300+ per hour

Golems spawn on a 20-30 second cycle, so counting the number of golems in a few minutes will tell you if one is missing

You need to dig down 30 blocks, and you should get about 1100 per hour. Not sure why they said you can dig down only 15 blocks then said that it does 150 more iron then the og design.

Tip: If some of your golems are spawning in the bedroom, break the blocks on the floor and stairs and replace them with path blocks. Also, I got killed by zombies that fell into the pit while afk. Its probably worth placing some glass between you and the pit.

After 3 different designs you saved our world! If you're on a GeyserMC server then I recommend this design! If golems are spawning outside of the box, just till the ground with a shovel 11-12 blocks around the box itself :)

mine recently stopped working. after some googling i read that the conditions for iron golem spawning are that the village must be a certain size, and i think one villager needs to gossip with 4 other villagers to discuss a "need" for an iron golem. Mine stopped working after getting several dozen stacks of iron without changing anything. I tried several things including giving them jobs but still no spawning. I think i just need to get/make more villagers x.x

For some reason this farm doesnt work for me, are you sure its for 1.20? I tried it in 1.20.4 specifically and it doesnt work at all. Im not talking about golems spawning outside the pit, im talking that no golems spawn whatsoever. And yes, I followed your guide perfectly, built every single villager chamber on the third diagonal block from the pit, built all the chambers facing away from the pit, and i even gave the villagers a chance to use their beds before getting the zombies in the farm

I built this on 1.20.1 and one single platform as pictured produces about 1000/hr. A second platform placed 20m underneath produced 2182 iron in one hour. I placed the villager beds 1 block below the spawning platform. No need to hide them 7 blocks deep if you make the surface unspawnable. Ex with carpet.

Fixed it just go 7 blocks deep on the villagers room instead of 6 which is shown in a Lil confusing manner in the video and kill all the zombies (if you already have placed them in the boats)break the beds and place them again let the villagers sleep for one night and shovel the entire place to prevent the golems from spawning and put zombies again and stand in the collection area it will work just fine

TIP FOR BUILDERS Check for caves and other underground openings before making your farm because if there's a cave next to your build, then it may malfunction or not work at all because the golems would spawn anywhere in the cave/opening. So, either check for caves and avoid them or fill them so that the golems spawn only within the farm's proximity and not anywhere else.

Hello, I built this farm in survival 1.20.1 and made sure that the area around it is spawnproofed. I placed torches in the stairs and the underground cabins and terraformed a lot to get everything flat. Still, the rates are incredibly bad for such a big build, I get about 4 stacks per hour. Does anyone know now to fix that or is this just another tutorial guy lying about the rates?

Works perfectly on 1.21.4 java. Built it 30 blocks up off the ground. Need about 20-25 stacks of cobblestone and 7-8 stacks of slabs. Putting out over 1,000 iron p/h.

if the golems do not spawn in the trap do not do -7 blocks but 8 and fill in all the holes and flatten the zone next to the farm with minimun 8 blocks

I built this in 1.21.1 and at first, the farm didn't work because the villagers would not accept the bed to sleep. To solve this, I blocked off the staircase to the room, killed the zombie and broke the trapdoor. Once this happened, the villagers wandered around and at night, slept in the beds. I then re-placed the trapdoor and got the zombie back and it works perfectly. Best of luck

so I saw you got it to work on Java 1.21. I built it exactly like the tutorial, but the golems are spawning in correctly. They won't spawn at the pool above, they just spawn in the bottom of the hole (if there are no items like hoppers, signs, signs or lava. How do you get them to spawn at the pool ?

what i have noticed is sit above the farm for best drops and make sure to put slabs under the zombie in the boat to make sure a golem doesnt get in there and kill him, and if u are seeing golems spawn not in the pit, u can put leaves to try to help or best of all put a zombie in a boat with shade over it right over the pit and put trapdoors along the edges to make them fall, hope this helps and stuck !

Or it would work, but somehow one zombie whilst in the boat, was a little too close the the villagers and infected them all, as well as I forgot to light up one room and an iron golem spawned in it, killing the zombie. One of the rooms just doesn't work for some reason. It must have spawned one in a cave or something.
