6 months - spend 30 minutes a day learning basic chords in and out. But have fun, don’t let it be a grind, you can spend 90% of your time having fun with beats and experimenting as long as you make sure to use your ear. A couple years of studying theory. You don’t need to study this too intensely, it’s a marathon not a sprint. You don’t need to be a theory God to make amazing music. And above all, rely on your ear. My piano teacher can do this for easily. I can play a song she’s never heard before and she’ll improvise on the spot or even olay along. And she’s not a genius
