Wow! While I love all your videos Anji this is the best one you have produced yet. Myself my Etsy shop has been going for six weeks and I am happy with my niche and SEO, but I know to really turn it into the sort of business where it makes me the full time wage I need to scale it up and the faster the better. What I find so useful about this video is that you have nailed down a really good process to scale fast. In my first month I got out 80 listings (from 20 designs, as I apply every design to four products) and I am going to try your method in January to try and get 400 listings out. As always Anji you speak some well grounded good practical sense. Love your work, keep it up! :)

@@eprep9745 Hiya yes. As I imagine you are in a similiar position to myself, I will throw some info out for you. My shop has been going for about six weeks, I have 80 listings so far. My niche is professions and trades. I have got 3 sales so far. With two of the sales I got them after Christmas which surprised me. I made GBP £27 from said sales profit over the three. I sold one mug and two sweatshirts. I am trying to nail down progression and trying to work out what sales I can expect at different points. I believe my biggest barrier to be reviews and the number of sales I have total when someone comes to my shop. When these go up, my hope is that my business should start picking up fairly fast. I think the best simple or most obvious thing I can do is knock out a lot of volume to speed up my progression insofar as it meets my quality criteria. I saw someone with only 30 listings but over 18,000 reviews. They post 20-80 designs in the photos per listing and the buyer chooses which design they want. This is smart because they save on listing fees and don't have to manage so many listings.
@TheAnjiMartin

If it works for them, cool. I personally wouldn't do that because I feel it becomes too overwhelming for the customer. Also consistent listing in your store and increased activity is a good thing. I have a store with only 20 listings that has done over $200,000 in revenue in 2 years. Quality and competition definitely matter. For most new sellers, listing consistently helps them to improve their skill level.

In my opinion, you gain experience over time and begin to understand exactly what works. Hi. Thanks for the Video. One question... Suppose, I am listing Math Teacher template in 5 types garments like TShirt, Sweatshirt etc... And creating 5 different listing. Is it advisable that I am using same tags and Title in all listings or use different tags in different listing?
@TheAnjiMartin

I would do all the same title, tags, etc for 6 listings where all you change is the color of the t-shirt in the thumbnail. That way you know that the change that worked was the thumbnail color. If I want to test different SEO, then I make that a separate block of listings. If you want to do a different garment such as sweatshirt, you can just switch out the word t-shirt for sweatshirt.

Question: I watched your "If I were Starting an Etsy Store in 2023" video and I can see how that plan differs from this one you suggest here. In the other video you suggest that sellers make 50-100 listings in 2 niches (Evergreen and Holiday). It really inspired me to get started designing. In that video you also suggest that people use more tools (like Sales Samurai, SEO and Etsy Ads, etc.). However, in this video you suggest a different approach (to make 1000 listings). Either way, assuming I put my nose to the grindstone, my question is, which approach do you believe will generate more immediate success? Thank you again, in advance!
@TheAnjiMartin
@TheAnjiMartin Жыл бұрын
Hi. The 2023 full guide is the big picture plan and includes EVERYTHING that I recommend to have a successful store. And I do recommend 50-100 listings to dominate a particular niche, regarldess. I also recommend to make your goal to get to 1000 listings as soon as you can if you want to earn a full time income with this. And of course you want quality listings. Most people will do it slower than I shared in this video, but for those who want to power through and get 1,000 listings up QUICKLY - this is the way to do it. And I didn't mean to eliminate research with this plan to hit 1000 listings quicky. This is just one piece of many part of a puzzle. I was simply showing how to create templates to power through design and listing (once you've done your research with Sale Samurai). If you do this plan then once you hit 1,000 I would go back and start focusing on the niches that are making some sales from those 1,000 and then do more uniuqe designs to expand into those niches further.
@brianm5798

@@TheAnjiMartin Ok great. Thanks for making sense of that for me. One follow up question though, just so I understand. So you’re NOT saying to create 1000 designs but rather to create 1000 listings, right? Which comes out to about roughly 166 designs (because 1000 divided by 6 = 166) if I make 1 shirt design on 6 different colors of shirts. Each color would be 1 listing. Am I understanding that correctly?

In the demo (at 9:05) it looks like you uploaded one design to Printify and then selected 3 colors (white, heather and pink). So when you create a listing in Etsy you’re creating 3 of the same listing AND the only difference between the 3 listings is that you’re featuring a different thumbnail. Cool, I didn’t know this was allowed. Did I get that right? Thanks again. I look forward to your response.

Love this video!! I do got a questions. I’m struggling with time. I do not currently have the time for a full time Etsy business, not sure if I ever will. But I want to build a part time Etsy store. I appreciate how this video gave me help with posting quicker! I followed your program and sold a few sells over Christmas with litterly only like 10 listings! I am getting continued views on these items and even likes even though it’s still Christmas designs. This is encouraging! But considering I havnt even made anything sense Christmas.. I’m worried my efforts will be useless. Do you feel like someone HAS to be working Etsy everyday to see results? I’m wondering if I use your exact process but step back to let’s say a day a week , or X amount hrs a week. Is it even possible to establish a part time Etsy store like this or will it mess up the algorithms ? I’d love to establish the store and slowly build it with less hrs even if it takes a couple years to develop some side income, and slowly build up the income also. I realize I can’t expect a huge income on little time, but if I’m constantly adding listings even if it’s 5 a weak , shouldn’t I build up income long as I do research and they are selling ? I’m worried if I use this slow approach that it will all fail and not build up at all and my efforts will be wasted. It’s not that I don’t Want to apply myself I am just currently strapped with many other responsibilities and live a extremely busy life. Love to hear your opinion!

Hi. Thanks for your comment and congrants on your success so far. The fact that you have gotten sales without only 10 listings tells me you most definitely have what it takes to succeed with this. I mostly gear my video content towards people who want to do this full time. However, If you are only looking for part time or side income then I would absolutely encourage you to work on your store slowly, over time. It's better than doing nothing at all. And I do think it will pay off in the long run. Etsy does like it if you are more activity in your store but if you can't do it daily it won't kill your store. I would at least login regularly to run sales, which takes just a minute to do. That way you have some activity in your store (on days you aren't able to list). If you have time to brush your teeth, you have time to turn on a sale :) I hope that helps! Wishing you much success.

Great video, Anji! Going into 2023 and per your experience so far in POD, What are your thoughts on focussing on a single POD vertical like apparels(t-shirts, hoodies, socks) and then creating designs for multiple niches like sports and outdoor enthusiasts designs, dog dad and dog moms, baby & mom tees for this single POD vertical ? Or would you suggest sticking to only 1 niche rather like a POD store for dog owners and selling different POD items like tees,mugs,stickers, hoodies etc for multiple breeds and multiple designs on this store? I believe going into 2023 it will be extremely important as a store owner to go all in on presence on social media channel due to increased competition on Etsy so I am thinking if I focus only on 1 niche then it would be much better for my social media strategies but would like to hear your thoughts on the above since you have years of experience in this POD space, thanks ahead of time!
@TheAnjiMartin
@TheAnjiMartin Жыл бұрын
There are varying opinions on this, but I am one of those sellers that do not believe social media is important for Etsy. Etsy does give tips on promoting on social media and if you are going to do it, it is probably best to stick to one niche as you said (especially if you are running facebook ads). I have found that Etsy has all the buyers I need and I don't want to waste my time posting on social media when I could spend that time more efficiently listing on Etsy and expanding my business model. Therefore, I recommend dominating one niche at a time but ALSO expanding into various niches as you go. I would start with one product type such as a tee and then as you make sales expand into other products- sweatshirts, mugs, tumblers, tote bags, etc. Etsy is getting more competitive but there are still tons of buyers and tons of gaps in the market place. I hope that helps!

@@tiannasiimplycooking I'm not sure I fully understand your questions here. You may want to rephrase it. But I think you are asking if you should duplicate in Etsy or Printify? If I had a shirt with 3 color options, I would add all 3 color options to the listing on Printify. Then I would duplicate it 3 times in Printify and publish it to Etsy. Once on Etsy, I just use a different mockup thumbnail than the other 2. Is that what you are asking?

There are AI tools for this which I'm working on testing. Nothing to share just yet. But once you are efficent with the process the manual way doesn't take that long.

Ok but 0.2 x 1000 is a 200 euros expense to keep the listings up, which doesn't seem very encouraging especially for a new shop that doesn't expect to make enough sales to make up for that. Or am I missing something?

You get 40 free listings to get started on etsy when you go through another sellers referral link. You also get your own referral link to share with others. Anytime someone sets up a store through your link you get an extra 40 listings. I NEVER pay that .20 cents to list on Etsy. You can do the same on KZbin, Tiktok, Instagram, Facebook. Lots of others looking to start a store that would want 40 free listings by joining through your link.

Thanks for the video, one can learn a lot from it, I certainly have but 1k shirts is just insane. If every shop had at least 1k designs it makes it even more impossible to sell your shirts. Two years ago a very successful Etsy shop said you needed 100 designs, then 200 but now one thousand? What next, 5k shirts?

Of course it depends on your goals. I'm speaking more to people who want to do this full time and do it quickly. Getting 1000 listings in a store, quickly, is the best way to do that. And I do know stores with over 5,000 listings that are doing very well. That is the basis for a million dollar store. If you want a hobby store then sure do 100 designs. With print on demand you have nothing else to do when the sale come in, so why wouldn't you spend you time adding more listings? Your thought process doesn't really make sense to me. Now, I do have a store with only 20 listings that has done over $200,000 in revenue with handmade items. But that takes more work once the sale comes in. I treat my business like a business and that means listing daily to grow and expand. If you aren't that ambitious then sure shoot for 100 good designs and call it day and cap your income.

This is a controversial topic. I have addressed this in other videos. I'm not the only one who pronounces it Nicchhhhhe as its spelled. I'm not French so I don't feel the need to say Kneeeesh. To each their own. My British husband also prounces it Nichhhh. I will also say this: English was never my favorite subject in school :) thank goodness it's not a requirement to make money online.

Thanks Judi… 3 mins in and I’m struggling… I know it’s dumb to care! The e on the end softens the i.. without the e pronouncing it like “nitch” would make sense. But there IS an e - meaning the “i” is not making a hard short “ih” sound, it is making a long slow “eye” or “eeee” sound. Nitch/nich and Anji would be right, niche and Judi/Kate are right.. lololol that’s how my English literature obsessed brain sees it.❤❤🐨🐨🇦🇺

@@JourneyThrough60 thanks for your feedback. That is interesting. I understand it hurts some peoples ears to hear it pronounced this way. I feel the same when I hear the reverse 😅 All I can think is why are you trying to be French 🤷🏻‍♀️ But I certainly don’t know anything about English literature. In my opinion it’s personal preference. I will always take on board constructive criticism. In this case I will continue to say it the way it feels most comfortable for me.

Hi Anji. Is there a specific reason to not use the printify mockup photos in the etsy listings?
@TheAnjiMartin
@TheAnjiMartin Жыл бұрын
Hi. In my opinion, there are better model mock-ups out there. Their flay lay is okay. I would just choose better ones that you can buy from Etsy. Some of their product mockups such as for mugs, the Printify mocks ups will work.

Well yes you don’t want quantity without quality. So if you have to sacrifice quality for quantity that is not good. This is just an efficient way to pump out quality listings more quickly. Cheers.
