Using yoshi instead of mario for the shell and pipe version really helps. I found it so much easier to alternate jumping with each bounce on the shell, because every second contact with the shell stops it from spinning and gives the character a small bounce.

The absolute easiest way to do the shell-jump against the pipes is to do it with Yoshi. Important to keep the shell still and get the pipes as close as possible. Then just press against the red pipe and jump button when you are down on the shell. With Mario I always struggled not to land on top of the pipe once in a while, but not with Yoshi. Use Yoshi for this. That way if you get hit, you won't lose a life. Very helpful when you are learning how to do it.

For those trying to do this, do it with Yoshi, make sure you get the pipes as close as possible (without killing the koopa!) and slide down the right pipe pushing right all the time. Jump off the koopa shell using A, let yoshi slide down and automatically jump on it (meaning dont press jump), then when he slides back down the pipe, jump using a again. This rhythm did it. So basically slide down, a to jump, slide down, automatic jump and repeat. Basically you're pressing a every other jump

It took me several minutes to figure it out. You have to baby tap the jump button. If you press the button for longer than .5 seconds, yoshi will miss the slide animation and jump over the pipe because you jumped too high

I was able to do it with Mario on my first try. I did it with the method of placing the Koopa between the two pipes. I think the key is to make sure Mario is small. If he’s big (like with a mushroom) he just keeps jumping on the pipe and it loses your streak. I found that him being small made it easier to keep a grip on the red pipe.

It genuinely doesn't seem possible to do either method consistently. Most of my bounces off the acorn don't give me enough height, and the shell method just doesn't work at all because the rhythm needed is too difficult to coordinate consistently. Been trying for an hour and just can't get even 1 life using either method.

W1. Pipe Rock Plateu - Swamp Pipe Crawl. About half way through, there will be two Shovas trying to push a pipe from both sides. This is a really good spot for this trick.

Because youre touching the ground. Just hold right, and as soon as you hit the shell while sliding down the pipe, tap jump as quickly as possible for as short of time as possible.

I found this glitch in Mario Wonder where if you wall jump and then use the propellor cap you can gain as much height as you want on the wall.
