Instead of a bare, brick wall, add a layer of cardboard to the wall. You still get all the force of the impact but it won't ruin the edges of the disc.

One single data point performed in different wind conditions with different release angles between throws. Good enough.

I'm gonna stick to the wall and add practice throws in between wall hits. This way I can control exactly how much I want to beat the disc.

I think another method could be to having trailing behind your car. It would probably need to be in some kind of protection but I think this would give it a good beat in with just a couple rides.

I think that would definitely work😂

Premium plastic would've been better to use since most people who need beat in replacements need them in premium plastic blends.

dishwasher: #1. How hot is the water? #2. Did you use the Heated Dry option? #2. What cycle did you use. Normal, short or heavy duty?

I’m not sure how hot the water was, but I put the cycle on normal.

Is there any PDGA legality questions for these methods?

That’s a good question.

The rules say you can't purposely change the flight characteristics of a disc, except through normal play. If someone even questions one of your discs at a PDGA tournament, the disc is declared illegal until the tournament director determines it is legal. I've never heard of the rule being applied though.

I didn't even think about that.... But, I'm wondering how things will change with different types of plastic.

the only way to beat up a disc fast and naturally is just throw a bunch of rollers on some dirt. ez

Throwing straight in the air vertical spike hyzers in an empty parking lot is the best way to break in a disc quickly .

I honestly prefer to get used to how the disc flies right off the shelf. The reason is I usually lose them before they”beat in” 😂

Same😂 I just lost 3 discs the other day.

Personally I think an understable disc off the shelf will never be as good as a more stable disc beat in to similar stability. I find that the beat in process is such that first you get more glide, then slowly you start to see more turn and only after it's turning considerably will you lose the fade. For example my trusty old Clash from 2018 started out similar to a Teebird. Slowly it started going farther before the fade. Some time later it flew like my Leopard3, but with significantly more fade. Finally it lost the fade completely, so I could backhand it on forehand holes and trust it to "fade the wrong way", before it eventually became a roller only disc.

@@TEN31discgolf lol I played Blue Lake in Oregon (the one the pros played for the Portland open) and lost 4 discs in one round. That course took my lunch money 😂

Not PDGA legal as soon as you do this. But, as long as you dont make a video of it, there's no evidence...... I guess it's a question of personal integrity.
