Renowned to be one of the most challenging restaurant to get a reservation in the world. I am now one happy lady to check it off my bucket list.
Impeccable service, every dish was well executed and several highlights that brought a big wide smile from my heart.
Spoiler alert: Do not watch if you are planning a visit to TFD soon.

I still don´t get how people get upset about this...if its not for you or its sooooo pretentious...then why the hell do you watch the video and go out of your way to make it sound bad ..its really sad watching people in this comment section missing the entire point of what this is supposed to be about...its not supposed to be compared to anything else...and if you don´t like it, then i believe it takes more than just a KZbin video to come to this conclusion...just amazing food and so much work that goes into this...i for one would love to eat at this place for once! not because i know for sure that i will love the food but because it looks like an incomparable adventure on multiple levels!

I've been to a number of Michelin star restaurants. They usually charge a high price for top notch quality meals, and surprisingly the course meal can fill you up more than enough. I usually eat a lot and was initially worried about the small portion sizes. But if you sit through a 2-4 hour long course meal with some good wine at these restaurants, you would feel very filled and fulfilled at the end.

These course usually comes with at least 6 courses, some can be up to 15 like this one shown here at fat duck. i would never choose to go because i don't have a palette or pretend to have a palette to enjoy this kind of food (for that price). But I appreciate how beautiful and sensory it all is. You don't have to be poor/jealous to decide this kind of cuisine isn't for you, despite what the comments are saying. I'd choose a trip to a little fishing village on some far corner of Scotland and eating seafood there than having wave sounds through headphones and sea foam sprayed in my face.

People complain about how small the portions are but tasting menus are designed to be small on purpose because there's usually 6 or more courses and that can get anyone very full. You're so lucky you were able to get a reservation there tho! We tried when we went to London but they were fully booked for the next 3 months so we weren't able to go haha! This restaurant seems very unique and although I will probably never go to a place like this. This video allowed me to feel like I was there and experience the restaurant. Anyways I'm going to go look for fat ducks.

Han Yung By the actual definition of the word fast food would be more pretentious. Their advertisements claim the freshest, best food at the price when in fact the opposite is true. Every person in that restaurant is in the top of their field and not actually affecting anything. Even though I think Heston Blumenthal is immensely overrated.

Thank you for sharing this! It looked like it was truly a dining experience to remember. Personally I had fun identifying some of the dishes from Heston's Fantastic Feasts episodes -- the mock turtle soup tea from the Victorian feast, the song of the sea from the fishy feast, the oak mist concept (from the fairy tale feast?), the printed white chocolate card (from the Gothic feast?) -- and were those ball things right before the desserts from the Christmas feast? Also the method of serving the duck from the 1970s feast -- I saw the duck meat and was all "they didn't give you the duck skin whaaaaaaat? Oh. There it is!")

To people complaining about the photography: I understand this is not normal decorum, but to get this reservation and pay the money involved, I would expect people to behave like tourists in this setting. It's a memory people want to preserve. I would relax. I agree in most settings, but not at the fat duck. I think I am far less bothered by cameras in fine restaurants than I am bothered by people that bring young children. Kids do not appreciate this level of stuff and I wish more places turned them away. I know some do, but I have paid $100 for a single dinner with views of the ocean (and I'm not wealthy at all) while having to listen to babies cry. Take all the pictures you want and hire a babysitter.

Rory Stevens omg I totally agree and I have kids lol 😂 Also in case you haven’t tried... Complain about children! I always do if they’re actually interrupting our night and ALMOST EVERY SINGLE TIME I GET A MASSIVE DEDUCTION! IT’S BECAUSE THE RESTAURANT ACCEPTS THAT YOU’RE THERE FOR AN EXPERIENCE, AND THEY DIDN’T PROVIDE IT SATISFACTORILY! Don’t do it loudly and obnoxiously, but just quietly pull someone aside and explain that you don’t feel like you got the experience promised for the money you are being charged due to X, Y and Z... most servers are happy to make a fair deduction for the inconvenience... OBVIOUSLY STILL TIP! 😂
@Csoery
@Csoery 5 жыл бұрын
Precisely why it's so annoying. Imagine, you book a table a year in advance for your 30th wedding anniversary or something, and ppl at the next table keep waving their mobiles around throughout the whole meal... It would totally ruin the evening for me! I think any decent place should ban cellphones/cameras at the table. I've been reading a lot about the Fat Duck recently in Charles Spence's book Gastrophysics and I'm very surprised, given how much effort goes into designing and delivering the experience, that photography is allowed.

Semicon07 the size of each course is very small but you will not only have 1 course but 16 courses at once. If you have fine dining experience before, you will know that you will never leave with an empty stomach. The menu is well designed to ensure you are full enough but not too full to be uncomfortable. When you come to fine dining, the main purpose is not for foods and being full but about experience. That’s what 2 or 3 Michelin stars about. Also for a table of 2, you might be served at least 2 hours. 2 hours being treated as a God should be paid reasonably

Gastronomy is very dynamic, meaning you can be top for a few years but the tides change and you have to completely remodel your philosophy to remain top. There was the era of Spanish gastronomy i.e. El Bulli, then the Fat Duck, then the era of Nordic cuisine. Look at Eleven Park Madison, no 1 but have now closed to change their menu and revamp their decor.
