As much as you want to hate or make fun of officers, they are needed. We are not a hive-mind and so we need a chain of command in a military setting. Be patient with them Butter-Bars and be respectful of their NCOs.

I disagree, I have pictures of my roommates openly mocking our butter bar. My uncle was a brigadier general in the air force. He was a pog, and my support. 🤣 E-4 Mafia runs everything anyway.😎

I didn't say anything about not making fun of the Butter-Bars, I said "be patient" with them. Once they hit the O-3 level, they shouldn't be absolute jerk noobs anymore. Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍

It's called a decentralized command structure

I had a uncle that was a brigadier general and my step mom's dad was on a colonel. They were POGs. My friends dads were officers and they were brats, never going in the military. So I called their dads Mr, not sir or colonel. LTC Feely SF medic decided, with his Vietnam friends to grant me veteran status, shitting on the mortar man as always 🤣

His videos are amazing; bought a few of his shirts and "Bangin' Legumes" is easily my favorite shirt ever. He said that since he couldn't say fucking nuts in the first 30 seconds.

If I recall correctly Habitual Linecrosser at some point kinda explains the way the U.S. military doctrine works, I think it's in his video about how it would go in a war against Russia.

The thing he was talking about at the end of the video is called “Decentralized command” where officers give an objective and orders the the NCOs and the NCOs and lower enlisted are allowed to make the calls on the best and most efficient/effective way to complete the mission because the plan always changes and things happen so it gives them the ability to make their own decisions if the situation calls for it

an officer is neither a rank nor a MOS. its considered a threat. if its to the enemy or your own troops depends on the rank. there is nothing more dangerous than a lieutenant with a map, a compass and an idea

Our captain came from S-4 to an Infantry company got lost at NTC. At night. He reported his position as walking under the moon right now. A captain with no map is worse 🤣

learn the job of the man above u and the man below u. multitaskable, meaning u can take over any task needed to complete the mission. decision making must be done instantly so there is no time to just figure it out. it has to come by instinct and get after it or your done for to. train well and it comes naturally. hence why we do those major joint wargames scenarios with other countries. is so we figure out how to interact with those units.

Interesting...possibly fun...fact...the British Grand Slam bomb from WW2 weighed about the same as the MOAB...22k pounds, and was of similar size at 26.5 feet in length. However, it had a much thicker metal casing which led to a much lower explosive yield than the MOAB...6.6 tons of TNT equivalent yield for Grand Slam vs 11 tons of TNT yield for the MOAB...but the Grand Slam would deliver a much higher percentage of its overall force as kinetic energy, since it was dropped from high altitude with no parachute to slow it down...it was often referred to as an "earthquake bomb."

One thing to remember about middle age war. The 'officers' were usually nobles and if captured they could be ransomed, and since soldiers often supplemented their pay by looting and pillaging, that added a lot to what they got paid.

Chain of command that is the answer to your question of what goes on in the military.

We stole much of Germanys sturmgruppen tactics from WW1, the officer on the ground is allowed a ton of leeway on how they complete an objective. As long as the objective is complete, If not then the officer is basically tossed into the fire by higher ranks. this is also another reason why Germany was so good early WW2 and they seemingly got worse as moustache man micromanaged the Wehrmacht from Berlin while the front is literal weeks of travel away. Officers were so scared of going against moustache mans tactics that they would wait for orders instead of taking initiative.
