I'm honestly amazed that this hasn't been made into a movie, considering the craziness of their story and Hollywood's infatuation with WWII.

Hollywood would find a way to ruin it be either trying to make one of the crewman a different race, a woman or a LGBTQ or do all 3 cause they can't make a movie with a whole white cast even if its based on an event of a white male crew. they don't make good movies anymore they just make narrative pushing crap. You'd be better off having some youtuber's animate it than have Hollywood butcher it.

It's a great video...although Fat Electrician made a couple of small errors...the only one really worth mentioning is that F.E. says that the first bomber that Zeamer flew when he got to Australia was the B-17B, but it was actually the E model. F.E. talks about Zeamer learning to operate the ball turret, and the B-17 did not get the ball turret until the E-model. Great reaction to a great video 💯

I'm pretty sure Zeamer talked about operating the ball turret.
@iKvetch55811 ай бұрын
@@theroachden6195 Yes...that is what I said...Zeamer was flying the B-17E when he got to Australia, and not the B-17B as F.E. said, since the E model was the first one that had the ball turret.

It really is because that's something I would go out of my way just to get to see in a museum. It's also the kind of thing that I would like to see left just the way it was when it was decommissioned from flying because I think seeing it the way it was patched up in the service in order to get it back out in working order would help a lot of people connect better with what those men went through to accomplish their tasks and often help other soldiers with theirs.

One of my most favorite stories, up there with Swede Vejtasa winning a 3v1 fight against zero's in a dive bomber. Also it wasn't just called old 666 because of ONLY its tail number. It also received that name because every time it went out, it got shot the hell up and this was before the beavers took it.

"Bends" is not a thing going down in altitude, AFAIK...only going up is an issue, with the increasing hypoxia. 👍 And you were right, in large part...the things the crew came up with to reduce weight included "stripping out unnecessary structure, cartridge belts, and ammunition feed equipment."💯
@PAT8888-is2pd6 ай бұрын
Actually, the bends doesn't have anything to do with hypoxia (which comes from a lack of oxygen). The bends is a release of nitrogen from solution in your blood. As you increase the pressure, your body will absorb nitrogen, as you decrease pressure that nitrogen will come out of solution. It can be very painful and even crippling. It's called the bends because that's what it does to you.

So the reason why that it states they shedded all those pounds is because the reality of it is bombs are way heavier than guns and after they were technically grounded they no longer have access to explosive ordnance like that but then being soldiers always have access to the ammo for 50 cals and most of the missions they went on anyway where recon
@justsoicanfingcomment581411 ай бұрын
You're not entirely wrong however they lost the two thousand pounds of weight. Because they removed they bomb racks and some armor plating. So shels would go throgh the plane rather than blow up and pepper them with shrapnel.

9:00 the precursor to the CIA is the OSS. Or the office of strategic services. The OSS was a wartime agency with a focus on unconventional warfare and special operations during World War II, whereas the CIA is a long-term intelligence agency that primarily focuses on intelligence gathering, analysis, and providing intelligence support to policymakers. The missions and functions of these agencies reflect the specific historical contexts in which they were created and operate.

You got to remember he's volunteering and there's a lot of missions that are volunteer basis only so it's just a matter of what the person who was actually given the mission want because think of it as you have the person who is given the quest then you have the bulletin board where you find your party
