Adapted from the novel by Zhang Kunhua, the film "The Face-Tattooed" tells the tragic and heroic story of An'an, a Dulong woman who struggles against fate for the pursuit of love and freedom. Bound by centuries-old customs, An'an refuses to have her face tattooed and flees into the forest, where she meets and falls in love with Dunzhu, a Tibetan youth. Faced with the taboos of inter-ethnic romance and numerous obstacles, they bravely fight for their love, only to ultimately succumb to the tragic fate. Set against the backdrop of the Gaoligong Mountains, the film portrays the survival and emotional struggles of the Dulong people, while also reflecting the conflicts and integration between traditional customs and modern values.
