my main fear of starting Van life full time is income! how to produce an income so that I have the freedom to travel so I’m not fixed in one place because of work is at a fixed place. For example I’ve seen a lot of videos saying how easy it is to earn a living online however the majority of samples that are given in these videos end up being a load of rubbish and more likely just a con or scam! Just wished there was a true honest video of how this is truly done/achieved.

The Vanlife community looks amazing and most of the people interviewed I subscribe to. My wife Jacqui and I want to go full time in the future (we are currently renting a bungalow). With some inheritance money we plan to leave renting behind and buy ourselves a new home in wheels! No longer under the watchful eye of a landlord but free to roam. We are excited and nervous all at the same time. So much to do and think about! So many questions…. * what about address for post? *Driving Licence, Passport, Bank Accounts etc.? *what about Drs and prescriptions? 🤔

The worst thing I've experienced while living full time in my van is when I injured my foot. I couldn't bare any weight on it, but I stop at a small sight on a regular basis and this is when that becomes an advantage of staying on these small sites I called them and although they were fully booked they still took me. The site is near family so I could call on them for help. So I can strongly recommend in between wild camping stop on 1 or 2 small sites regularly because when things go really bad they will help if they can.

Whilst there is tons of information and videos about vanlife, I struggle to find information about caravanlife and wonder how difficult or easy it is to full-time the way you vanlifers do. When I hit the road (soon!🤞) I’m likely to use more sites than parkups, so my question is, am I likely to be hounded if I used some of the parkups with my caravan?

I just got my first motorhome a few weeks ago. Currently my fear from staying in the van for more than a weekend away on a site, is power. I feel like just keeping the laptop going so I can do my work is going to be really difficult. This MBP really chomps through the power. I'm still trying to understand what I even have in the van and what I would need to be able to keep this going.
@TheUrbanMotorhome
@TheUrbanMotorhome 2 жыл бұрын
It’s definitely do-able, we all run MacBooks in the vans no problem. Once you’ve got power sorted, you’ll be fine. There are multiple solutions, not just with installs on the van itself but with things like power banks as a power source as well (eco flow, jackery etc). Without knowing what you already have installed in the motorhome, it’s hard to know what might be the best way forward for you. Maybe speak to where you bought it to see what’s installed so you know what you have. Then you can then work out what you use power wise and then what you need. Or chat to people like the guys at Eco Tree about a consultation to help you out, that’s where I had my install done (the second time and correctly!) and they were brilliant

@@TheUrbanMotorhome Thanks for the detailed reply. Some good tips for me to work through. Once I have the WiFi setup in the van (just need to mount the aerial now) I am going to head out to a site with EHU for a few days and live "off-grid" to see how long it is before everything runs out. That way when I drain it I can just hook it up quickly and carry on with my day. Not very scientific but it will at least give me some kind of idea! Solar, lithium batteries, and some kind of jackery type thing are all on the wish list. Plus that power display you have so I can see whats being used / remaining.

I’m recently divorced so had too sell my house too pay my ex wife off. It was north bitter or nasty, no family solicitor involved who would of literally taken everything from me, but she agreed too split everything 50/50 down the middle. Although I paid the mortgage, she raised the children, did the school runs, cooked cleaned, took care of all the bills and Day too day things family home ,so my ex obviously played a massive part. But since I’ve only received half the assets from our home sale is I haven’t really got enough too put down a big enough deposit for a house, which means I’m now renting a small one bedroom flat. Although it’s a lovely modern flat, fitted kitchen, bathroom decorated top too bottom, im paying £650 a month which is a big chunk of money. Although I have the money to buy myself a motorhome outright with no loan, no payments I can buy a decent 2nd hand motorhome in cash. Which means I’ll have no mortgage, no rent too pay, although I would save monthly because it’s inevitable that something will go wrong on your motorhome at some point.

Hi Daren after watching your video on the Fears of going full time Van life I can’t understand why you didn’t interview real full time van lifers Who have to go to work nine till five every day and leave their van behind and wonder when they get back if it’s still there or been broken into we are full time van life and every day we have to take all our personal documents laptops iPads with us to work for the fear of them not being there when we get back we have to worry about parking tickets where we parked the van before we go to work moving it every day this is real time van life and really I think you have lost your way in the virtual world of Vlogging because all you seem to do is interview Vloggers who don’t have these worries every day.. So what is full time Van life for us as non Vloggers who have to go to work every day and stay with in 3 miles of our work …. Well here goes it’s Really Hard we get up at 6am and put the kettle on and then we have to clean all the windows from condensation so mould doesn’t build up then after that we check to make sure we have enough electric in our batteries as with vloggers we aren’t driving 2/4 hrs every day charging our battery’s up at this point we get ready for our working week we can’t take our van close to work because of parking restrictions so we have to leave early to get close and get parked up and before we leave we have to get all our personnel documents out and into a satchel as the fear of leaving them in the van is to much and that’s the same with all our iPads and laptops then we are off to work if it’s a gym day we shower there if not we wash down in a bowl in the van because using the shower and hot water takes to much gas and electric every day during winter not so much in summer . We get to where we park the van then it’s off to work we lock the van and wish it a great day and tell her to look after us .. then we do one look back at her and then the worry is always at the back of your mind all day and we do have Wi-Fi cameras but if they want it they will have it ….. then we finish work and we hot foot it back to our home first thing I do is have a look round her to see if she’s ok and OMG in winter it’s FREEZING we try and leave most of our lockers open during the day to stop build up of condensation so it’s on with the engine and check the battery condition it’s ok in summer as as we say Suns out FRREEEEEEEEEEE Energy but it’s scary during winter … then it’s the drive to find a park up and that could,take up to 30mins to an hr every day then we close the van down so no one can see in and try and make it as stealth as possible but it always feels your hiding away from the world it’s really Hard during winter not so much in summer as you can leave a curtain open as the daylight is longer then it’s teatime and trying not to be to noisy when making it ie pots pans and using the Gas then during winter it’s time to Hucker down we have a Webasto Diesel heater amazzzzzzzing but having it on when your on a side street is hard due to the constant emission of vapour it blows out when it’s really cold and the really fait ticking of the pump . But it’s the constant worry even at night when we are sleeping the cars going past and sometimes noises out side it’s really hard not so much at weekends as we try to get out of town and that’s the only really time we get DOWN TIME away from the routine of it then it all stars again…so you may ask Why …………. We have been doing this for over 5yrs now we rented and we just didn’t want to line someone else pocket so we had the van built for us it’s mid wheel base as anything bigger would have been a nightmare parking every day it cost over £35000 to do but that took us years before to save up and now we are on our way to saving up for a house everybody has their reasons for doing this for whatever it’s for and those reasons are called REAL VAN LIFE …… LOVE TO ALL VANLIFERS
