Cleaning kit has a couple of advantages over using extra ammunition. One of the less obvious is that because the ammo is not on the weapon card, you don't lose it if you swap out for a different hand slot card. So you don't feel so bad dropping that revolver to play your big gun. Another is that it combos with Emergency cache (3) so that that card can now also be used as ammunition. The Katana is designed for the science archetype. Which seems to be very specifically a seeker/guardian Archetype. Dr Charles West is the other half of this card, who gives you an additional hand slot for a tool asset and does an extra damage if you beat the test by a 1 or a 3. throw in steady handed and now you can shift your result up or down by one, and now you are doing at least 2 damage if you succeed from +0 to +4. You also heal a horror when you succeed by 2. Now the question you might ask is are you better off running something like the machete in the same deck, and I think the answer to that honestly is how important is that extra +1 to hit and how well are you able to take advantage of the extra attack. That might honestly make katana best for seekers who can take guardian cards who need the stat boost.

I've been running a Blessed Blade Ancestral Token Mark Harrigan in Vale, it's been quite fun. The upfront 3 cost is nothing when you have the preludes

Seriously! Get us a non-seeker researched card! A guardian weapon with some story behind it would be a solid candidate, and having a condition to research that’s something weird like katana’s perfect strike would be a sweet way to unlock the higher level
