The interesting thing about Hold Up is that, because it's a Parley action, if you get stuck with an enemy and your weapon is in your hand, you might be able to get it into play for cheaper and without receiving an opportunity attack. (not that this makes me excited to play it lol)

Agreed. There's flexibility, but an action, a card, and a resource for the privilege of running a test that may let you play a weapon.

Another fantastic video! Overall, the Hemlock Vale player cards revealed so far seem fairly well balanced. Of course there are some exceptions. I don't think the game needs a bunch of new overpowered cards. Looking forward to trying some of these new cards in new decks!

Think I’m good on Parley cards for a while. First couple were cute, but now it’s just like why investigate when parley grabs clue(s) and doesn’t provoke AoO’s? Why evade when you can just do it automatically and also ignore alert? Why fight when you parley and don’t have a chance at hitting your teammate nor proc retaliate? Sometimes you can even do more than one of those simultaneously without interacting with the corresponding mechanic at all. Not to mention Fine Clothes just reduces all of those chances by 2, sometimes even to 0 and there are also more ways added to recur those cards now as well. Other cards are great though!

The thing is that you need, and will often discard, cards to do it.

to be fair, it's typically only 2-8 cards in your deck. If you don't have recursion, how often do you expect to see them? Plus, there are already cards that do no tests that do the same things as the Parley cards coming out.

Just watch out for Furtive Locals if you play a parley-heavy deck for the Innsmouth conspiracy, as it could shut the deck down for a whole round.

Parley will be tough to count on though since you have to have enemies to do it. They read strong, but that limitation will end being very tough to make use of too many Parley cards.

Does the word "new" card on pelt shipment mean it can't help purchase a second copy of something you already have?

It can still purchase a new copy per the rulings on down the rabbit hole. You just can't upgrade from a lower xp version to a higher xp version.

I'm not sold on the flavor for hatchet. Why am i losing it if the enemy dies. I broke it by throwing it too hard? Seems fun gameplay wise tho

The idea is that the hatchet get’s thrown/swung so hard that it’s permanently lodged into the enemies body, resulting in the enemy’s death.

Vamp should have been a Survivor card. They're much better at having variety in stats.

Pelt Shipment - I can't see how to play WITHOUT discarding it ASAP and retrieving it at the end of the game. Severe handicap without those "retrieve at end of game" shticks.
