After an eventful 4 weeks which included my 2.2 tonne outdoor swimming pool being crane lifted over the house, we are finally back with another house update. In this episode we have the bifolds, my emporer size bed and the fire place all delievered.

We did a permitted development extension which I thought was huge (48 sqm) and then this comes along... Makes ours look like a kids playroom!🤣 Can't wait to see the finished article.

I think you missed an opportunity by not using the flat roof of the extension as a balcony, would have been an extra outdoor space with patio to chill out??

I know people who spent money doing exactly this and they never use the balcony / terrace for anything since they have a nice garden one level below.

@@nilau3295 I would still say it’s worth doing as it can easily come in handy when having guests over or an extra outdoor space for a party etc, plus helps with resale value later on.

If there isn't enough space at the side for a mini digger they must be fairly close to neighbours. A balcony that close probably won't get planning.

Are you planning on using the huge extension roof as somewhere private for sun loungers or a little table for summer breakfasts almost in bed? I see your neighbour has a small extension with railings around and their middle Georgian windows include a door. With it being such a massive area, it would be great to use it, if not now but in the future.

The upstairs windows look terrible compared to the ground floor. They should be converted into doors and the extension will become a balcony.

It does but looks relatively small and has clearly been there since the house was first built. Looking at the size of the floor space on that new extension and how close the houses are eitherside, I don't think you'd stand a chance getting planning for a balcony that big.

Might just be me, but the extension looks out of place and isn't aesthetically nice to look at from the garden. Though maybe its due to the way it looks on camera. Would of been nice to have a balcony etc... going from the original house onto the extension for that flow...
