I just saw Everybody's talking about Jamie and this is the song that had me weeping. I lived through those years and it was my life as well as millions of others. We lost loved ones and were scared we would be next, so we partied like there was no tomorrow because for some of us that was true. For those of us who survived we carry the burden of remembering for those we lost, and reminding the children who follow us of the battles we fought for their freedom. As a young person, don't dismiss the old LGBTQ+ people. The old gay man in the wheelchair fought longer and harder and lost so much more than you can imagine. The woman tending her garden alone, she lost the love of her life that she met marching against anti-gay legislation and had everything taken from her on her partners death because she wasn't allowed to marry and the family swooped in and stole everything. The trans woman still fighting for recognition and acceptance in her 60's, she has endured more hardship, pain and sorrow than any human should have to endure. We fought for your right to walk down the street, to dance in heels, to kiss and to marry. Be happy, love who you want to love, and give a hug to the old gay and lesbians and trans men and women who made it possible.

Utterly brilliant yet totally heartbreaking. The song captures my teenage years and early twenties . I still remember where I was when I heard Freddie had died and being numb with shock and sorrow. Dan this is the best song you ever wrote, a magnificent tribute to all those lost pretty peacocks.

He wrote it with Holly Johnson, and it was Holly who sang it in the film. When the date got to 24th November 1991, I knew what was going to happen 💔

i was five when Freddie died. Too young to know that I was in his community, and that I'd lost someone who would mean a lot to me someday. I knew of AIDS, because what child didn't, but it was when i came out as trans that the full scale of what we lost hit me. an entire generation of LGBT people were just GONE. this song is something special. I've never heard a musical number that has moved me so profoundly as this.

I used to get called Queenie in one of my first ever jobs due to my love of all things Queen. Which I still have to this very day. The line about Freddie Mercury gets me every time! To hear this song in Everybody's Talking About Jamie as well. A great film that really hits you in the feels.

Very good song and you guys still look great. This song sent me back to that same era and one particular performance by Queen which I was very lucky to see. They were on their Highlander soundtrack tour, and the single It's a Kind of Magic was the hit from the album that was being played on the radio everywhere. So it was an outdoor gig on the grounds of the castle, with the stage set up in front of a river that ran across the grounds. The Bangles opened for Queen and were tons of fun because it was their first time in Europe (as a very excited Susanna Hoffs told us) and they were thrilled to be there. Then came the real magic. It had been pissing down rain the whole day, which continued when Queen came onstage and began their set. Finally they played their new hit song and I kid you not, just as Freddie got to the words "It's a kind of magic..." the clouds parted, a rainbow came out and shone across the river and the wet grass.

Unfortunately a lot of artists dumb down their sound just to ensure radio play. Ed Sheeran is one of the lucky ones who writes bland music but it still sells by the bucket load. This isn’t a great song it’s very bland which is a shame and not memorable.

It's from a Musical, Dan Gillespie Sells wrote the music for Everyone is Talking About Jamie. This song takes me back to the 80s as I think that's what I get from watching the advert for the show. Even this video the music and background screams the late 80s. I Love It. But I've not seen Everyone is Talking About Jamie yet.
